REVIEW: Khomha - Vapor E.P. on Coldharbour / Armada Music

1.Vapor (Original Mix)
2.Dejavu (Original Mix)
3.Dusk Riddles (Original Mix)
4.Genesis (Original Mix)

Rounding off a year to remember, KhoMha holds back his ultimate best till last. Stashed inside the ‘Vapor’ E.P. is an arsenal bristling with weapons-grade floor movers.

Once again highlighting the Schulz protégé’s pan-genre appeal, they’re ready to bring just the right type of turbulence to a club floor near you.

Here comes ‘Dejavu’, ‘Dusk Riddles’, ‘Genesis’ and ‘Vapor’!

Until recently Columbia’s best-kept musical secret, throughout the course of the last year KhoMha has powered through into the global clubbing consciousness. Generating substantial word-of-mouth buzz through a succession of stateside turntable performances and production slam-dunks (‘Mind Gamer’ and runaway club hit ‘The Dark Knight’ among them), his presence has been felt in all four corners. That culminated with the 22 year-old’s mercurial accent up TranceAddict’s 250 rankings (climbing a 198 places to break its top 20) and, last week, the release of his debut mix- comp ‘Coldharbour Presents: KhoMha’.

From its very first beat the ‘Vapor E.P.’ dives straight for the jugular. ‘Dejavu’ dispenses high-impact drums and tremulous bass at will, before elevating in drop with M1 pianos and wildly oscillating synth lines. If you’re expecting the enigmatically titled ‘Dusk Riddles’ to cut you a tempo-and-tone break, well fugget about it. Housing things up with its manifesto of meaty beats, snapping percs and female vocal shouts, at the break it gives way to the mod wheel, which sets you on a collision course with a wall of dirty, distorted goodness!

Dimitri Kechagias review: The very talented and recently interviewed on Flux Bpm Online Khomha returns on the beloved and fanatically worshiped record label Coldharbour recordings with his brand new stunning EP VAPOR that includes not only one but 4 mega bangers of real club power.  With open mind and ear to infusions and merging of different styles into one fresh and highly danceable sound Khomha is the future of what we term widely as trance without doubts. The four top tunes on the EP are: Vapor (Original Mix): The title track is tailor made for the big rooms and large festivals. It starts rough and techy but on the breakdown a heavenly melodic theme is introduced that very soon is replaced from uplifting euphoric synths that lead the track to its big room hands in the air rocking climax. The track will surprise you as the wonky rough and wierd bassline will come back once again to drive us mad before allow the melody to appear for its concluding part.  Dejavu (Original Mix): This tune starts all freaky, frisky and wild and suddenly will surprise all as it lands on  the very melodic and touching breakdown with piano melody to die for and travel your mind to mysterious places. When the beat strikes back it goes full on with the nice melodic themes and synths delivering the pay off moment.  Dusk Riddles (Original Mix): Top club slammer with rough and rolling beats and basslines, house diva style vocal samples and awesome euphoric climax that doesnt stay for long as it goes glitzy and wonky once again for the hard as nails climax. Genesis (Original Mix): Brilliant melodic progressive trance with the usual deep Coldharbour atmosphere with bubbly beats, deep basslines. The first short breakdown reveals a monster riff that will blow the speakers for sure. The second and longer break is more spacey and infectious and works well to build the tension for the full on hands in the air climax that is rich with colorful classic synthisizer melodic flavours. Nasty and dirty beatz with melodic spiceys perfect for Christmas & New Years Eve parties.
