In a truly extraordinary week for both YouTube and the world’s most popular (dance) festival, the official after-movie for Tomorrowland 2012 has recently hit a staggering 10 MILLION unique views – just 8 days after it was unveiled to the public on 10th September.
With a whopping 200,000 shares in just 48 hours, it was in fact THE most popular online video in many parts of the world at the end of the week, soaring past the likes of Britney Spears dancing ‘Gangnam Style’ on the Ellen Degeneres show, and Andy Murray winning his first ever Grand Slam Championship at the US Open in Flushing Meadows.
To put this unprecedented online success into perspective, the insanely popular after-movie from 2011’s edition – which has recently just hit the 50 million mark and which crowned Tomorrowland ‘the biggest online festival in the world’ by far – took 2 months to reach 5 million. Both movies are worthy testament to the sheer scale of international popularity and acclaim that Tomorrowland has come to enjoy – a scale that saw over 2 million punters in the queue for tickets this year, a number that will no doubt increase exponentially in 2013.
