REVIEW: Richard Durand vs. The World EP 4 Africa out on Magik Muzik/Black Hole recordings

1. Richard Durand - Sequence
2. Richard Durand & Stefan Viljoen - Free Fall
3. Richard Durand & Protoculture - Pleasure

Richard Durand presents the fourth release in his Vs. The World project, this time with the winner from the African part of the competition. The EP features the titles “Sequence”, “Free Fall” and “Pleasure”.

The first track to kick off the EP, “Sequence” has Richard Duran's signature written all over it. Definitely staying close to his well known trance style with hard tech ingredients in it, the powerful arrangement is full of energetic synth lines that will take the party to another level.

“Free Fall”, was the track that was sent out to the world for Richard’s Vs. The World project this time and the winner was DJ/Producer Stefan Viljoen. South Africa based Stefan Viljoen, also known as The Beat Prophet, started spinning at the age of 15. As described in his biography, he likes to play from his soul and projects his deep love for dance music by focusing strongly on clean mixing. As a producer he is known for delivering deep and groovy baselines with techie elements. It's exactly that what we get to enjoy on "Free Fall', in which we here an enticing and new view on a Richard Durand gem.

The third and final title of the EP, “Pleasure”, is a collaboration with the also South Africa based artist Protoculture, also known as Nate Raubenheimer. He began at a young age and followed an education for audio engineering in pursuit of a professional music career. His first album, “Refractions”, put his name on the world's map. To date he’s played on every major continent, and received much praise for his energetic and emotional live shows, headlining at festivals like Glastonbury and Ministry of Sound in the UK, Creamfields and XXXperience in Brazil, Earthcore Global Carnival in Australia and Ageha in Japan. He now adds another notch to his belt with this energetic slammer; once again and with "Pleasure", Richard Durand shows the competition what a fine producer duo can establish.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Richard Durand is rocking the clubs worldwide with his massive dj sets and his Vs The World project make him known all over the globe with great local talents from each continent competing to collaborate with him and learn from the master of the studio. Richard Durand presents the 4th massive EP dedicated to Africa and Middle East. Sequence is a powerful club bomb ready to destroy the club floors and bring that Rush in your blood that only Richard Durand compositions can of course. The Dutch trance god once again composes a massive piece of banging bouncy drum beats and great feel good synths as well. Underground tech trance to the core without compromise and strictly for heavy use in your club environment. The winning track for this EP is the collaboration with Stefan Viljoen for the fantastic trance anthem Free Fall. If you follow the mega trance releases of Magik Muzik or ITWT this track will bring back memories of some old school trance tracks for sure. The uplifting synthy lead in the breakdown certainly creates that feeling of falling from a skyscraper or better an airplane to the ground. So summery, packed with sunshine and positive vibrations. You will feel like flying without second thoughts and definitely deserves to be the winner for sure. Third ultra large release is of course Richard Durand collaboration with our beloved Protoculture for a track that will give tones of Pleasure. When you check out you can hear the influences of both producers becoming one and pushing the production abilities of both studio masterminds to the next level. Awesome tribal drum beats on that Protoculture style that is deep and energetic at the same time with the added techy edge of Richard's style. The breakdown can not get any bigger than this so better embrace yourself for an awesome ride. Orchestral film like breakdown will help you to meditate for a while and then the huge synths will be released to send your punters into oblivion. When the beat returns with the hi-nrg melodies on top expect the unexpected on your dancefloor. Packed with trance Pleasure and clever Sequences of music ready for a Free Fall. Don't forget to go and vote Richard Durand at the dj mag Top 100 djs list. He deserves to go higher to prove that quality trance is still alive and kicking! Love IT!
