REVIEW: Grube & Hovsepian ft. Tiffany Johnston- Venom on Coldharbour Red/Armada

01. Venom (Original Mix)
02.Venom (Miami Life Remix)
03.Venom (Dub Mix)

A distance of several thousand miles hasn’t stopped the combined talent of Miami’s Tim Grube and Los Angeles’ Mike Hovsepian creating quite a following in such a short time. Grube & Hovsepian are back under Coldharbour focus once again with the beautiful “Venom” - their first vocal effort thanks to Tiffany Johnston.

Since becoming part of Markus Schulz’s management project Schulz Music Group, Tim and Mike have performed the biggest gigs of their careers to date, including the Los Angeles ’12 Release Party at Avalon and the Winter Music Conference closing party at Space in Miami. A massive highlight in both of their sets was a beautifully smooth slice of progressive trance, accompanied with vocals that had everyone guessing the origins of the track in question.

Virginia native Tiffany Johnston shines with her performance here, with many veterans in the music scene citing Venom as a throwback to the progressive trance sound of the late 90s. Since being debuted on the Global DJ Broadcast in March, it has quickly become a fan favorite and one of Coldharbour’s most anticipated releases of the year so far. 4-man producer group Miami Life are on hand for remix duties, giving the track a lighter, more feelgood touch.

Whether you’re a warmup DJ or a main-eventer looking for something to begin your set with, then Venom will set the tone perfectly. And as a result, this coast-to-coast musical fusion will continue to go from strength to strength.

Dimitri Kechagias review:  The awesome record label Coldharbour headed by the superb dj and producer Markus Schulz has the more underground little brother label that is the equally stunning Coldharbour Red. Its time for the fantastic duo Grube & Hovsepian to bring their brand new track Venom that surprisingly enough is not the big upfront track. Rather they decided for the original/dub mix to head towards the deep progressive trance territory and for  the Miami Life Remix  to move to a new arena for them that is the epic prog house Swedish house influenced sound. The original mix is a deep, warm progressive trancer that can be used as the perfect starting dish for your  trance set as it can create the right dark atmosphere. For the vocals the talented duo co-operate with Tiffany Johnston that sounds very fresh, youthful with the voice that stands out from the other vocalists and in a way she adds a totally different dimension to the whole track. Just check the dub mix  that is the version without the vocal.  On the other hand if you want an upfront but very melodic remix as well don't miss to check out the  Miami Life remix. Full on progressive house with big room and electro house elements with full vocal use and great melodic theme in the breakdown. The climax of it will blow you away and get dancing even your old retired grandmother. Great release by this very promising and talented USA duo. Love iT!
