REVIEW: Darko De Jan - Desert Safari out on Baroque records

1-Desert Safari(Original Mix)
2-Chris Drifter Remix
3- The Chant (Original Mix)
4-The Chant (Cristian Poow Remix)

Based in Dubai, Darko De Jan is anew artist for us in 2012. and one that we are more than a little excited about..

With two originals & two remixes in this first package, 'Desert Safari' is first through the gates... lots of funky drums and percussion , a low end bass & subtle but enchanting ethnic vocals make up the backbone her, with darko's excellent production keeping things interesting.

The remix of this one comes from Chris Drifter, a rolling beat & bass combo, with tweaked subtle drums, acid influences & busy dotty melody lines woven throughout .. heads down stuff!

'The Chant' is darko's second track, again his trademark dynamic drums & percussion are present, but in a more understated way.. real stringed instruments and keys add terrific melody as the track sways & swaggers as floaty distant female vocals enter in the breakdown.

Cristian Poow gives us his take on things for the remix , a busier peak time with powerful synths & moving bassline & pretty large breakdown.. something totally different to the other mixes here

Darko De Jan - Desert Safari by Darko De Jan

Dimitri Kechagias review: Once again Baroque records take us by the hand and introduce us to the magical world of Darko De Jan. Two great originals and their remixes are part of the Desert Safari EP that you should be sure not to miss it.The talented dj and producer for Desert Safari goes towards the deep tribal  progressive house style with  fantastic percussion that remind us the traditional ethnic sounds of Middle East. The ethnic vocals are highlighting the brilliance of the whole composition that invite you in a way to dance hypnotised  like taking a journey without moving. The good news become even better with Chris Drifter from Hungary who provides a smashing progressive house version that has even more drive and intensity with trance and electronica influences is definitely a relentless odyssey searching for the truths of life while dancing on the clubfloor. The quality package continues with The Chant. Once again Darko delivers a real tribal monster prog house winner that I can see many djs who like the more classic house sounds to adopt it in their sets as well. The etherial vocal samples, the piano riff and the whole composition is so colorful and rich with sound textures that in just seconds you will find yourself immershed with its soundscapes. The remix that supports the original by  the latin American Cristian Poow is my favorite as it embodies the elements of prog house that I would love to hear more often. Tough, banging and absolutely large with brand new involving grooves and continous progression that lead us on that magical breakdown that the beautiful vocals come out in the surface along with the warm piano riff and then follows a very satisfying climax that I can imagine prog house and prog trance djs  drop it with equally explosive effects. Top stuff! Love IT!
