REVIEW: Solarity - Tiny Black Circles / Longwayupdown out on Anjunadeep

Solarity - Longwayupdown
Solarity - Tiny Black Circles

Fresh from the success of their debut Dusky album "Stick By This", Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman return to the more progressive sounds of their Solarity moniker.

Caught between tech-house grooviness and progressive uplift, "Tiny Black Circles" is an epic affair - and is already a favourite of French techno legend Laurent Garnier. Awash with 808 grooves and swirling synths, the track comes alive with hypnotic retro-house piano loops and spaced out vocal samples.

A more chugging groover, "Longwayupdown" grinds away with a mechanistic funk before trippy bleep melodies and washing pads add the sort of emotive musicality that the Solarity boys are known for.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Simply amazing EP with two magnificent jewels perfect to raise the tempreture on any progressive house floor within the coming weeks. If you love like me exceptional sound design in your music Solarity boys will offer you the maximum amount of satisfaction. Longwayupdown is bouncy big room progressive house track with strong melodic theme with solid beats and the right amount of drive to keep the bodies movin and rockin in your peak time moment of your set. It has flow and intensity and its straight forward despite its tongue boggling title. On the other hand Tiny Black Circles is awesome techno influenced monster tune difficult to define as it draws influence from various EDM styles in order to bring out the unique and highly valued in the scene Solarity sound. Tech house with  epic melodic edge that works really well along with those documentary style spoken vocal samples. I can imagine Carl Cox playing this and dancing along with it in his own very stand out style. It has a retro romantic feeling to it that in a way proves that music styles continue through the years. Solarity seems to know well the EDM substyles and they can move in and out of certain codes and conventions with great flexibility for the benefit of the listener.Like IT!
