REVIEW: Kevin Focus - Stuck 7 / Brock Out out on Coldharbour Red/Armada

1-Stuck 7
2-Brock Out

It’s a warm welcome to one Kevin Focus, who joins the ever expanding Coldharbour family. Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Kevin has built a solid reputation across the US and beyond over the years, not just for his vast diversity of productions, but also DJing alongside the likes of label owner Markus Schulz passes through the Queen city.

Prior to the madness of the summer season, Kevin submitted “Stuck 7” to Markus - a punchy and energetic track that gradually builds to a frienzy-lead. It became one of the secret weapons of Markus’ livesets, particularly on the festival scene with plays at the inaugural Electronic Family in Amsterdam and Germany’s Nature One, along with his residency in Ibiza.

Stuck 7 came to fruition during the Global DJ Broadcast World Tour recording from Marquee in Las Vegas, and with additional support already from the likes of Gareth Emery among others, it’s safe to predict that the track will be making its way into liveset rotation quite regularly across the circuit.

Complimenting the headline moment is Brock Out - and like Stuck 7, is built very much with the dancefloor in mind. With a multitude of sample vocal snippets cleverly appearing throughout, it’s sure to keep those winter dancefloors moving and shaking.

Dimitri Kechagias review: One of the main reasons that someone can admire Marcus Schulz is his amazing ability to find new talents and expose them to the world. Artists that having something new and intresting to say. On Coldharbour Red the clubbier sublabel of Coldharbour empire the brand new and promising talent Kevin Focus provides two smashing pumpin anthems ready to heavy and unstopable club use. First of all Stuck 7 that is a well crafted tech trancer that will rock the clubs for sure. Full of confidence, dynamism and powerful basslines this bulldozer is ready to explode big time. If you love the big room style you are going to adore the playful way that this super bouncer is composed. It has the HIT word written all over it from the 1st minute till its last. Second track is Brock Out that is a totally different style. It continues to work on that tech trance style but in play there are many influences from various styles like electro and house. So driving full of cool vocal samples recalling hip house anthems from the past and a very large synthy riff in the breakdown that tease your audience until to go wild and out of its head in the climax. They sound so huge that you know that Kevin has produced this EP with Markus Schulz on his mind behind in his decks performing with them and getting massive feedback from his crowd. Creative, fresh and absolutely stunning!
