Following the success of his hit single ‘Changed The Way You Kiss Me’, Example now returns with ‘Stay Awake’, the second single to be taken off his album ‘Playing In The Shadows’. It has been a killer year for Example who has well and truly branded 2011 his own. ‘Changed The Way You Kiss Me’ held the No.1 position in the UK charts for 2 weeks beating rock giants Coldplay to the top and selling in excess of 500K copies, now ranked as one of the biggest selling singles of the year. The album „Playing In The Shadows“ and the second single “Stay Awake” which has already been released in the UK, also went straight to the top of the charts. Over here, “Changed The Way You Kiss Me” entered the official iTunes charts at number 2 and is currently settling down in the top ten of the official sales charts. His new single ‘Stay Awake’ is produced by dubstep lords Nero and is yet another huge dance anthem from Example who kills it with his trademark combination of thought provoking lyrics and massive choruses. ‘Stay Awake’ was penned after waking up at Ibiza Rocks and seeing hundreds of kids still going from the night before. Example says ‘it’s about a messed up generation who spend all their money on partying and questioning whether or not it's right. We spend all our money to stay awake the longest’. The juggernaut that is Example LIVE will come to Germany for 4 exclusive headline shows at the beginning of 2012. „Stay Awake“ is going to be released in early January 2012 and will include remixes by Delta Heavy, Steve Pitron & Max Sanna, Skrillex-protégé Alvin Risk and Micky Slim.
Dimitri Kechagias review: Example is definitely a phenomenon that slowly takes the globe by storm. What I like in his songs is the way he blends strong melodies along with electro house beats and along with his lyrics turn them into big pop smash hits. Stay Awake is all about partying until the morning light and be part of that generation of that loves to enjoy themselves without any limits. The remix package is the finest that you can get with some top notch versions. Extended mix is big room uplifting electro house with indie dance/nu rave elements as well. Micky Slim Remix is electro house style with dirty dutch influences. Really playful with squeezed vocals and squeaky beats too. Moam Remix in on the style that I like. Big room epic prog house to its finest with great new melodic riff to raise the hands in the air. Pitron and Sanna Remix merges trancy melodies with bouncy electro pop beats. Delta Heavy Remix is also excellent with its drum n bass style. I have the feeling that this tune works really nicely on that style. Last but not least Alvin Risk fires up its beats on dub step style and as you can expect its a full on, really atmospheric and very energetic too. Top notch release for sure.
