Various Artists – Summer EP out now on Hahmo recordings

1-Joonas Hahmo - Banana Split
2-Malfankson - Fret Noise

Still no-where near late for the summer season, Hahmo Recordings Summer EP introduces two massive A-side bangers - one from the label's main man Joonas Hahmo and one from the up and coming duo Malfankson.

First up though is Joonas' "Banana Split" which in our opinion sounds like Cocktail Bar's long-lost big sister. After the first play on Above & Beyond's Trance Around The World, eveyone started asking what the track was. Well, now you know! Those mental piano riffs and bleepy synth sounds are finally back and combined together with Hahmo's 2011 production style this track should be considered as another benchmark in Joonas' career.

Earlier this year Malfankson released their highly successful, first ever single, Intro & Ending on Hahmo Recordings but now they are back for more with even bigger "Fret Noise". It's catchy melodies and the overall summery vibe puts an instant smile on any face. After carefully test driving this tune in various events over the summer, we can proudly say that things for Malfankson certainly look bright. If their first two releases are this big, what more can we expect in the future? These guys are the ones to watch for!

Dimitri Kechagias review: Hahmo recordings is one of those small independent labels that despite the low volume of releases manage to find fans worldwide and built a steady following that always check out their releases. This brand new Summer EP as the title suggests is perfectly timed to be released within summer season. First of all the label boss delivers a tasty and really meaty progressive house epic track with the title Banana Split. If you like to eat your Banana slowly and sensually in order to have this distinctive taste to last in your mouth then the same feeling you will get from this track. Driving and optimistic the track slowly builds by revealing tasty beats of piano melody till to land on the big piano dominated breakdown and main part that hands will be raised and immediate sense of feel good dancing in the sand kind of feeling will take over your audience. It is so well produced that is impossible not to be noticed and make many music aficionados to tweet all over the net to find out just the title of it. It is simple and effective as the good tracks should be. I came across to Malfankson for first time and I must say how pleasantly surprised I’m from their track Fret Noise included in this Summer EP. The track has a Balearic prog house meets prog trance feel with electronic progression with playful basslines that will grab you and will not allow your attention till to be totally and utterly under its positive influence. The track uses small and functional breakdowns that reveal the main piano melodic theme that along with the electronic melody on top and with that swirling effect lead us on the main epic sections that will do their job perfectly. Excellent release for those who ask always for that something little extra in their music.
