REVIEW:Shogun - Skyfire out on Armind/Armada Music

Shogun - Skyfire, including an epic prog trance remix by Alex MORPH out on Armind/Armada Music

1.Skyfire (Original Mix)
2.Skyfire (Alex M.O.R.P.H. Remix)

Since his first release in early 2010, American producer Andrew Chen has gone through an amazing growth. His Shogun sound has matured and grow more advanced, without losing its character. He's impressed the audiences with the beautiful 'Nadia', Beatport no 1 'Save Me' and stunning follow-ups 'Imprisoned', 'Star Line' and 'Run To My Rescue'.

In 2011, he made a grand entrance with his new single 'Skyfire', rocking Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance 2011 compilation. Now that the summer's kicked off and the festivals are calling for grand, stage rocking anthems, 'Skyfire' hits in right on time. Atmospheric synths, melodic twists and a powerful pay-off, make this wonderful trancer a more than worthy addition for the jewels under the Armind angel's wing. It's got energy, melodrama and all the right elements to get under your skin.

If anyone knows how to give a tune that little extra kick, it's German producer Alex M.O.R.P.H.. After remixes for Armin van Buuren, ATB, Andy Moor, Markus Schulz and many more, he took on the remix duties for the mesmerizing 'Skyfire'. If you like your 'Skyfire' with an extra pinch of energy, you'll surely enjoy Alex' take on this one.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Armind continues its quest for the highest caliber anthems carefully selected by Armin himself with another outstanding anthem from Shogun that quickly establish himself as an artist with the ability to move the global trancefloors. The original follows that proglifting style that seems to energize the dancefloors at the moment that has the darkness of progressive music but with uplifting feel good melodies and electro twisted bass lines. It includes a wonderful melodic first breakdown that sets the atmosphere and then all the way up till to land on the longer breakdown that can bring even tears in your eyes with its heart felting melody and the inspirational spoken vocal along with that high quality piano melody. Particularly that vocal reminds me trance anthems from the early 90s that this practice was widely applied. After the great vocal everything goes wild when the distorted riff is revealed and the wild rough beat comes back for that perfect climax moment. Alex MORPH, the German trance meister, returns with an exceptional remix that has more tech trance horse power with long and really fantastic breakdown. It stays close to the original mix but with an added whoomp factor to it! Shogun is definitely a name to watch and check out whenever and wherever you see his name.
