REVIEW: Andy Duguid feat Fenja - Strings out on Magik Muzik/Black Hole recordings

1. Original
2. Moonbeam Remix
3. Club Mix
4. Ruby & Tony Remix

Andy Duguid delivers his brand new single on the Magik Muzik imprint, entitled “Strings”. The vocals are from Fenja.

The unmistakable sound of Andy Duguid is once again all over this fabulous new release called “Strings”. Andy’s crisp and super tight programming give the entire production an incredible drive and especially the firm use of sub bass makes this one a must for all the professionally set up live performances. Fenja’s vocals turn out to be perfect for “Strings”, as she manages to add honest and true emotion to the track while Andy puts just that extra bit of touching synth programming to the mixdown. In the break we hear actual strings and given the quality of the playing, they must have been recorded live.

Our Russian friends from Moonbeam poured their own, typical sound over the original and came up with an almost newly recorded version that offers a smooth version in ISOS style for the sunset gigs. Ruby and Tony on their end also decided to aim for the crowded dancefloors and bring us a lovely trancy version with a wee bit of progressive here and there. Andy returned to his own original for the club mix and one thing is clear: “Strings” is an absolute marvel of a single!

Dimitri Kechagias review:  Andy Duguid gets always my support as his compositions are sensitive, thrilling, unique and always effective on small or big clubs. His brand new single comes to bring to each every listener of it an aural experience that will be hard to forget. Strings is another class A prog trancer that utilize the best elements of trance and house in the best possible way. Of course the single is highlighted  from the outstanding performance of Fenja that recalls with the way she sings  it Scotish folk songs. Exactly that idea adds to the track an epic historic film soundtrack like feeling. Moonbeam that always impress us with that deeply sensual and magical sound take the track in the deepest places of the oceans and when you listen to it you feel being surrounded by goldfishes and dolphins too. The Club mix pushes the track in more peak time territory adding dramatic synthy drops and that I want to be on the dancefloor kind of rush. Lastly the uplifting progressive trance lovers like me will adore to play in their sets the Ruby & Tony Remix. In this larger than life remix everything is outstanding and really great so wait your audience to throw their hands in the air and give you a warm hug at the end. Top release that will ride high on charts and playlists. Full support at the dj mag top100 pool for Andy Duguid: www.djmag.com/top100
