ADE 2014: Six hours of workshops featuring top names at ADE Next

Join the workshops in the Interface Magazine Room to find out how Hardwell produces using Logic Pro and to discover how Berklee College's Stephen Webber listens to music.

Starting at midday, the opening workshop in the Interface Magazine Room will be hosted by Emmy Award winner Stephen Webber, program director of Berklee College's Music Technology Innovation. He will be focusing on knowing how to listen, examining the sorts of objective, professional-level listening skills that are essential for everyone involved in the music industry. American duo Disco Fries (Danny Boselovic and Nick Ditri) will be stripping their track Philtrum back to its bare bones in order to demonstrate how they create drop synths and risers, how they process their vocals with the use of Melodyne, and how to get a great kick drum sound. Hardwell, voted number one DJ in the world, will be doing a 2-hour in depth workshop focussing on one of his latest tracks. He will be offering insight into the production process using Logic Pro, discussing those all-important kick sounds, the application of sub bass and how to use sidechaining, as well as offering some mixing and mastering tips. And of course there'll be time to ask questions.

Claude Zdanow's keynote speech on mastering was one of the highlights of ADE Next last year, and he is back again this time with some guests, all artists with whom he has worked at Stadium Red studios in New York. Claude and his crew will be sharing their knowledge and experience of the crucial processes of mixing and mastering, alongside offering advice about what to do and what to avoid. Eelke Kleijn will be diving into the process of remixing Dance The Pain Away by Benny Benassi ft John Legend: "I will explain the whole process, from the request for a remix right through to the end result. I'll be describing how I chose which elements to use from the track, the production techniques I used to adapt the original, and talking about the parts I added, as well as the gear and software I use. Ultimately, and perhaps most importantly, we'll be looking at how to decide when the remix is finished," Kleijn reveals.

The Interface Magazine sessions will be presented by editor-in-chief Mark van Schaick. Interface Magazine is for musicians and producers, and published 10 times a year, containing interviews, workshops and reviews on the newest software and gear.
