REVIEW: 16 Bit Lolitas - Beat Organ EP out on Anjunadeep

After four years away, 16 Bit Lolitas, the duo behind Anjunadeep classics like "Nobody Seems To Care" and "Murder Weapon" return to the label with the Beat Organ EP. Featuring three tracks harnessing the atmospheric, emotive sound they made their names with, the Beat Organ EP sees Ariaan and Peter bring a refined, contemporary edge to proceedings.

Title track "Beat Organ" builds subtly before melodic stabs make way for an insistent bassline groove. Tripped out soundscapes rise and rise in an almost euphoric breakdown, eventually unfolding back into the huge, bouncing bassline.

"From Far Away" takes a more restrained approach, ebbing and flowing for almost ten minutes in what is a genuine epic. Combining many of the hallmark elements of progressive house at its peak, with the current wave of melodic deep house, "From Far Away" is a hypnotic ride through dark, moody melodies and delicate sonic textures, culminating in an anthemic final breakdown.

Rounding off the EP in energetic fashion is "Friendly Neighbour", built around another rolling bass heavy groove, brought together with rich melodies, interlocking textures and warm, feel-good atmospherics. All in all, the Beat Organ EP is an assured comeback, and a prime example of the progressive revival slowly beginning to take shape on dancefloors across Europe.

Dimitri Kechagias review: The eclectic house community has as flagship label the awesome Anjunadeep. The top global  label never fails to impress and it can be proud and confident that its followers  are really openminded and  musically cultivated. As a result of this unique bond of trust between Anjunadeep and their fanbase the label is able to  release whatever they believe strongly with big success. For that reason Anjunadeep is considered to be trendsetting forward thinking label.  The brand new EP comes from the sure hands of  the exceptional 16 Bit Lolitas from The Netherlands who have made their unique sound identity with  faithful supporters all over the globe.  16 Bit Lolitas deliver 3 magnificent and highly different tracks that continue on their own well known progressive house pathway but with addition of many current influences like deep tech house for instance. Beat Organ opens the EP in true melodic prog house style that manage easily to build an emotional bridge with the listener. Deep relentlessly evolving  housey grooves, cool percussion, little synths here and there,  airy pads are added along with various melodic synthy layers while the emotional piano melody plays throughout the track adding that summery sunkissed atmosphere. Beat Organ recalls the best moments of the Balearic house sound that is always prominent in Ibiza. From Far Away is the longer musical journey that 16 Bit Lolitas invite us to experience and step into their mystical mythical world of mesmerising soundscapes. This track sounds much more deeper than the other two as it adopts the moody melancholic view to the world with haunting basslines and electric guitar like synthy lead that cast the spell on the track and manage to set the tone of it. They add some distorted vocal samples as well in very creative way and the final sequence is the moment that all the melodic layers come together for the emotional crescendo that will send many listeners to outerspace for sure with its intensity and fragile nature. Last but not least the exceptional Friendly Neighbour is what we can term as classic progressive house cut with deep haunting basslines, groovy disco house beats, synthy stabs and exotic ethereal vocals that work together perfectly to build the nice mellow floating journey. The breakdown  is quite long and moody with late night atmosphere that sooths the senses for a while before the euphoric synthy riffs that come to the open to build the tension. The climax moves with the same disco house aesthetics and keeps the feet dancing. Absolutely magnificent EP not to be missed! #PureGold Love IT
