REVIEW: Chris Coco - Word Remixes out on Melodica recordings

1 Word [Leftside Wobble Remix]
2 Word [The Timewriter Live Mix]
3 Word [DFRNT Remix]
4 Word [Afterlife Mix]
5 Word [Leftside Wobble Instrumental]

Coming off the back of the success from Chris Coco's last album 'Freedom Street', the first single 'Word' was an obvious choice to take a bit further with some enticing remixes.

To kick things off we're met by the deep-grained groove of Leftside Wobble, who creates a heartfelt classic house rendition. You're carried along with the old school vibe we all remember so vividly on this one.

The Timewriter enhances the Backroom-meets-Old Skool atmosphere with this gracefully dissonant remix. Playing on the big room pads; the once dominant vocal takes a comfortable back seat as the mix floats through.

DFRNT do exactly as the name suggests and really flip the mix on its head, this amazing remixes calls on the edgy dub bass line hinted at in the original, but takes full force from it instead. A darker twist on the jazzy original.

The Afterlife remix is a rhythmically driven, melodic roller boasting a lounge house feel, but with the constant push you'd expect of a Balearic hit.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Chris Coco is one of the most influential dj's, producers and music journalist around and he has left his stamp on the chill out/lounge/cafe del mar style music that slowly became one of the most successful genres because of the constant support from charismatic figures like Chris Coco. His track Word is a laid back, super groovy jazzy infused lounge house track that can keep you tapping your feet and relaxing you at the same time too. The new remixes will indulge you even more to it so they are definitely worth having them in your collection.   Leftside Wobble has definitely that old school acid house balearic touch to it. Cool organ riffs, live like percussion, little synthy riffs and on top the classy vocal to remind us that in music what it matters is still the human voice. The legend The Timewriter is on board as well and his name signifies the best in deep tech house music. In his  Live Mix for Word creates a bubbly deep techish soundscape with retro house influences, dreamy sound effects and electronica touches. Top version for eclectic ears. DFRNT Remix moves on the more experimental territory  for a tranquil crystal clear ambient version. The well known Afterlife deliver an exceptional remix that is directed towards the deep acid jazz house style with lounge and ambient sounds too. Leftside Wobble Instrumental version is included as well. Pure magic to warm our senses within the cold and distant winter days. Spring is close though and these remixes will bring it in our hearts. Love iT!
