REVIEW: Markus Schulz Pres. Dakota - The Nine Skies (Extended Mixes Part 1) out on Coldharbour Recordings

10.0
Overall Score

Described as a 'deeply soul searching and gut-wrenching experience', Markus Schulz's audiovisual presentation under his Dakota alias, titled The Nine Skies, received rapturous and critical acclaim; showcased at marquee events such as the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas and Transmission in Prague. The album of the same name released prior to Christmas vaulted the music into a higher tier of adoration; a journey encompassing dark and rhythmic influences towards the uplifting crescendo.

This is a nice selection of extended editions from The Nine Skies; ranging from the euphoric Edonismo to the hypnotic Future Shock, and from the mysterious Eve's Doorway to a fresh progressive painting of the classic Cafe Del Mar, the broad range will serve many palettes.

Summary

Markus Schulz Pres. Dakota with The Nine Skies delivered one of the strongest trance albums for 2017. The extended versions will be welcomed by many DJs who would love to play them and make their audience transcended. The first part includes wide variety of tracks that will please your ears for sure. Bravo On The Go is powerful anthem track with dominating beats. Cafe Del Mar rework has thumping drums, moody basslines and breakdown that slowly unleashes the big euphoric synthy theme that gives instantly goosebumps. His climax is dark and punchy with balearic touches. Eve's Doorway is melodic dark progressive trance with hints of techno and mesmerising breakdown. Future Shock will loudly spanked you with fat tribal drums and breakdown that has atmospheric synths perfect to reach the lazer lights. In Search Of Something Better is dark and hopeful at the same time with unforgettable synthy hook. Finally Edonismo is absolutely epic with cinematic Jean Michel Jarre type of synthy melody that make you wave goodbye the past and welcoming the new. Markus Schulz at its best! #PureGold Love IT
