ZOYA: I'm ZOYA and I'm a singer-songwriter. You can find my music under my artist name ZOYA. My real name is Zoya Zipova.

ZOYA: Last few years I moved around a lot. Spent a few years in the  USA, in Ireland and France. At the moment I am based in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Can you mention your 3 biggest achievements in your music career in 2016?
ZOYA: I had a really good year with many positive memories. If I have to describe 3 biggest achievements I would say: 
It was always a dream for me to release on Armada music. I don't know why.. Maybe because I was a fan for a long time. So this year a dream came true and I released a song I wrote "Oceans Away" there. The song is a collaboration with the Indonesian dj/producer LTN. The official video was made in Bulgaria and you can watch it on YouTube: 

Joining "To The Point Management" as an artist. 

Took a part in Ferry Corsten contest. I didn't win it but I finished 1st by public votes from 111 entries.

Dimitri: Overall 2016 was a positive, neutral or maybe negative year for you and why?
ZOYA: 2016 was a positive year for me. I travelled so much again... I can say the so far I visited 26 countries. I met interesting people in the music industry. With some of them I started working in a few different projects and the result will be heard and seen in 2017.

1) Best Track:
ZOYA: I really like "Closer" by The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey. I listened to that track million times. Love the vibe.

2) Best Artist (Dj & producer):
ZOYA: Again The Chainsmokers, would love to work with them.

3) Best Remix:
ZOYA: I took a pill in Ibiza ( Seeb Remix) . This remix inspired me to write a song. You will hear it in 2017.

4) Best Remixer:
ZOYA: Seeb , pretty cool sound.

5) Best New Talent (Dj or producer):
ZOYA: So many talented people out there. I don't really know who to say. I really like Alan Walker even tho I think his fame came last year.

6) Best Electronic Music Album:
ZOYA: Kygo-Cloud Nine. Kygo is one of my favourite producers. On my dream list to work with him.

7) Best Electronic Music Compilation:
ZOYA: Trance Essentials 2016, Vol. 1
Various Artists, including my track "Oceans Away "

8) Best artwork/cover of an Album or Compilation:
ZOYA: Sia-This is acting,the cover is really cool,artistic and original.

9) Best Lyrics in an Electronic Music track
ZOYA: I would say one of my new collaborations but that isn't  released yet.. The lyrics are great tho, you will hear it. Something that came in 2016 and I really like is Amba Shepherd-Prelude. Great song, video and lyrics.

10) Best Vocalist/Singer featured on Electronic Music track:
ZOYA: Ellie Goulding, with her unique voice she makes every track special.

11) Best Electronic Music Label:
ZOYA: Revealed recordings, great support and promo for their artists.

12) Best Electronic Music Video:
ZOYA: I am a big fan of music videos in general so I always check YouTube for the newest stuff . Martin Garrix feat. Bebe Rexha- In the name of love is without any doubt one of the best songs and videos for 2016.

13) Best Online Social media for communication with your fans:
ZOYA: I "live" on Facebook but I also love my twitter followers, and instagram followers :) You can find me here: 
14) Best Twitter or Facebook message or Instagram message you received from a fan or friend or you have read on someone else’s account:
ZOYA: I received so many nice messages this year from people all around the world showing their support for my music. It is hard to choose the best one but I will share one of them with you. I got this really sweet message on my Facebook page one night. I will keep the name of the person private but here is the message:

Hi Zoya, How are you?

I've been a big fan of yours for a while now, supporting all your releases. Your music really inspires me a lot and it even has helped me through some really dark times in my life. 

I have recently started collecting autographed photographs from my favourite DJ's/Producers. 

I was wondering would you be interested in sending me an autographed photograph? It would mean everything to me!

15) Best music composition software:
ZOYA: I am a fan of Cubase and Logic. We use Cubase when we record vocals.

16) Best Club Event or Open Air Festival:
ZOYA: I think the best Festivals are still Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival. I also enjoy going to smaller gigs where I can catch up and talk easily to people.

17) Best personal Dj Gig:
ZOYA: As I mentioned before I am a singer-songwriter so not DJing yet.  This summer I went to Above&Beyond in Las Vegas and that was unforgettable experience.

18) Best Dj set of the year from other fellow Dj:
ZOYA: For a best Dj set, my vote goes to Darren Porter-Luminosity 2016 set.

19) Best country that you have visited to perform with the most up for it crowd:
ZOYA:  Last year in the UK. But I believe 2017 will be even better and bigger for me.

20) Best Radio show:
ZOYA: A  State of Trance, always a pleasure to listen to it.

21) Best Radio station:
ZOYA: BBC Radio 1

22) Best Online Record shop that you purchase your music:
ZOYA: As an artist I know how important is to support the music we make  that's why I always purchase  music from beatport. Don't just look for free downloads guys :)

23) Best music related website that you visit frequently:
ZOYA: I am always checking YouTube for some new inspiration. Once I write a song I always have a clear idea how the video should look like.

24) Best Smart phone or smart phone application:
ZOYA: Im using an iPhone 6s plus ( which is too big), app I would say Instagram. You can find me there as "zoyasmusic"

25) Best Dj equipment (software or hardware):
ZOYA: Cdj 2000s nexus, Pioneer djm 900 mixer

26) Best new sound or sample that has been used in Electronic Music this year perhaps introduced first by you?
ZOYA: My own vocal packs, it will be released soon in 2017.

27) Best tip that you learnt this year for your Djing techniques or music composition:
ZOYA: Still not a Dj but who knows one day you may see me doing it too.

28) Best piece of advice you got in relation to your career in 2016:
ZOYA: Listen to people with more experience than you but keep doing  your own thing and trust your intuition.

29) Best hobby or activity that you spent a lot of time in 2016:
ZOYA: Music is my best hobby but apart from that I love travelling, swimming and going to the gym.

30) Best holiday destination for 2016 that you manage to visit this year either to relax or to perform in a club or festival:
ZOYA: I travel pretty much but this year I went to Hong Kong in November for the first time. I fell in love with that city. It was also my first visit in  Macau and Thailand and I hope to be back in Asia really soon to perform there.

31) Best Electronic Music magazines in printed form not online:
ZOYA:  I would say Future music magazine.

32) Best Movie of the year that may inspire you to compose a track:
ZOYA: The Girl on the Train. Watched that film in Macau in November and I got inspired to write a movie soundtrack. The track is perfect for a love movie. Just looking for the right contact to send it now.

33) Best online/PC/video game of the year that you have played this year?
ZOYA:  I am an old school gamer and I still enjoy playing  Super Mario haha :)

34) Best joke you heard this year related to electronic music:
ZOYA: The other day I was listening to a new song that came on YouTube. I won't mention the singer and the song but the video was in the forest... It didn't sound so good... Someone said "If the trees had legs they would run away"... I know it sounds hateful but it made me laugh.

Dimitri: Finally, 2017 is ahead of us would you like to tell your plans with your future releases, tracks, albums, collaborations, Dj gigs.
ZOYA: I would like to keep it as a surprise but I can say that for now I have planned 2 big collaborations. And also you will hear me in a different genre.
