Throughout the +13 years of its existence, Solarstone’s balearic überclassic ‘Seven Cities’ has moved literally millions of people. With its musical fire still burning bright, it now sees 4 brand new remakes come to life. Enjoy Solarstone’s Pure re-touch, as well as remixes by Antillas & Dankann, rising talent Thomas Datt & newcomer Almar.
Richard Mowatt aka Solarstone is responsible for some of the biggest classics in EDM history. The UK producer/DJ didn’t only bring us the seminal classics ‘Solarcoaster, ‘Like A Waterfall’ and ‘Jump The Next Train’ plus more recent anthems 'The Spell', 'Fireisland' & 'Jewel; he’s also one of the masterminds (together with Andy Bury) behind ‘Seven Cities’ - an all-time favourite that won’t fade anytime soon.
For 2013, Solarstone himself has given it a #PureTrance upgrade - his 'Pure' Mix injecting that extra push of energy and bass-work. Italian producers Antillas & Dankann go full out on feel-good, giving it that playful stir of prog-house, without losing its original vibe.
Polish producer Thomas Datt on the other hand, kept his focus on the uplifting and trancey side of ‘Seven Cities’, providing a solid remix for the trance junkies - as does Romania's Almar who pulls no punches with his rousing, melodic mix.
Dimitri Kechagias review: Captivating Sounds sublabel of Armada Music presents the brand new versions of a beloved classic that always brings goosebumps whenever you hear those balearic guitar riffs in the breakdown along with those ethnic vocals. Solartone's magnificent Seven Cities is one of those trance classics that will travel through time and space towards eternity and future generations when we will be not be upon this earth any more will adore and worship too. The brand new versions are the finest you can get so better get prepared to love the classic once again. Firstly is Solarstone's own Pure Trance version. Rich returns back to the basics of trance and delivers his remix on that Pure and honest trance form. Full on euphoric trance version that lasts for nearly 10 minutes and travel your senses towards the unknown and mysterious Seven Cities. Are they situated somewhere in this planet, past, present or future? While we ride the amazing energetic driving beats and pulsating basslines and we hear the feel good balearic melody, we are carried away towards this sacred place that are Seven Cities. Once again Rich is a perfectionist and he service a fantastic rework that stays true to the original vibes with a solid classic trance sound without experimentation and infusions. Just Pure trance to make us cry once again on the dancefloor from excitement of course. The bombastic fantastic Italian duo Antillas & Dankann Remix deliver something slightly different from the trademark big room sound. Their remix is tough with tech infusions and sharp basslines but there is a nice whole part that carries on really melodic, floating and flowing with tougher beats and heavy basslines. The unforgettable guitar riff is the main ingredient that wins your heartbeat straight away. Hands will stay in the air for a long time. The very talented Thomas Datt is on board and he knows really well how to handle great melodies and highlight them within his sonic magic world that he builds with his hi-nrg synths at the back, the bumping driving basslines and the balearic tribalish trance beats. Laid back relaxing summery trance at its best. Thomas is a modern sonic wizard of oz without doubts. Lastly the upcoming Almar service the tougher rework perfect for the uplifting 138 BPM plus type of dj sets. If you like your trance harder and stronger this version will send shivers all over your body and remind you how good Trance music is without second thoughts. Great package of remixes that really deserve this classic trance beauty. Thanks Solarstone so much for this trance masterpiece. Adore IT!
