Best of 2012: Welcome Moodies, they rock for sure! [Soundz Good / NL]

Name: Moodies

Location: Czech Republic

Intro questions:

Dimitri: Can you tell us how 2012 has been for the development of your career as a DJ and/or Producer?:

Both: We've released our first remix, our first EP, played first gig as Moodies, played at open air event for the first time. And now we are making our first interview. Good year, isn 't it?

Dimitri: If you look back at 2012, are there any moments in your musical career that you wish you had done differently in order to get a better outcome?:

Both: It was a busy year, it would be just nice, if we had more time to spend in studio during summer.

Interview was written and conducted by Dimitri Kechagias, Radio/Dj/Music Journalist

Best of 2012 according to Moodies, please welcome Adam & Voytech

1) Best Track:
Adam: I think "Michael Calfan – Ressurection". One of those tracks I can't get out of my head.

Voytech: It's not an easy desicion. So many good tunes came out this year. But there is one, maybe not the best, but kinda special for me. It's „Love Is All I Got“ by Feed Me. I'm just feeling less moody when i hear it.

2) Best Artist (DJ & producer):
Voytech: Same problem as question #1 and i've got to admit, that my opinion in this case is changing about twice a day.
But in this moment it is Calvin Harris.

Adam: I disagree with my colleague. I think it's gonna be Tommy Trash. Even If we played on commercial party people asked me what was the name of track we played before. It was always ''Ladi Dadi''

3) Best Remix:
Both: Tommy Trash's remix for Aoki's "Ladi Dadi". We felt in love after first pressing "Play". "We don't need nobody,
cause we go ladi dadi..." Yeah! We're singing it right now, big apology to Wynter Gordon for ruining her tune.

4) Best Remixer:
Both: Definitely Cazzette, those tracks make you feel like you're having b****b from most beautiful girl in the world
with bit of biting and being kicked in the ass  by iron shoe so hard. In one moment of course.

5) Best New Talent (DJ or producer):
Voytech: Now I really cannot say one name. It will be just unfair for those others, because there is so many new
talented producers all over world. My favourites are Alesso, Porter Robinson, Hard Rock Sofa,  Swanky Tunes,  and many, many more.  Also our friends SHato & Paul Rockseek had a good year.

Adam: Moodies!

6) Best EDM Album:
Both: It's maybe more pop, than real EDM, but anyway "Calvin Harris - 18 Months".

7) Best EDM Compilation:
Both: Truth is, we didn't hear a lot of them this year. But "Club Life vol. 2 " was possible to hear from our headphones
quite often.

8) Best artwork/cover of an album or compilation:
Voytech: Now I'm absolutely sure. Professor Meowingtons on the front side of "Album Title Goes Here" kicks ass!  Hey, deadmau5, this one is good.

Adam: When I am listening tracks in my phone I always adore Axtone's covers so winner is Tommy Trash's "Sunrise"  cover.

9) Best lyrics on an EDM track:
Voytech: Deadmau5 again! This guy made me read a short story only because of his track. Ray Bradbury's "The Veldt"
is great short story and only when you know the story, you also know what is the tune about. And it's so deep.

10) Best Vocalist/Singer featured on an EDM track:
Both: Wynter Gordon. Nothing more to say.

11) Best EDM Label:
Both: Releases from Axtone and Refune were in all our sets this year. And we can't forget about Soundz Good.

12) Best Music Video:
Voytech: Alesso – Years. I was crying in the end. I hope story of my life will be similar. I feel like we are something in the
middle now.

Adam: Yeah I remember when I sent this video to Voytech, heh I really like the part when parents bought him Moog. Dad it's christmas already so what the hell are you waiting for :-)

13) Most amusing video on YouTube relating to Dance Music:
Both: Shato & Paul Rockseek's music video for "Fridate". Why it's amusing? Because enormous amount of  Jaegermeister. And we are starring!

14) Best Online Social media network:
Voytech: Facebook. I'm addicted a bit.

Adam: Facebook, It's my dating service.

15) Best music composition software:
Both: Fruity Loops. We just love to wait a few minutes for project to load.

16) Best Event or Open Air Festival:
Both: One Last Tour in Prague. We 're glad we heard those guys. A lot of people say, that SHM are just posers for kids,
but  we just don't care. They are legends.

17) Best personal DJ Gig:
Both: Here is a right place for a funny story from summer. We were performing at one little open air party and it went
completely crazy. The organization was such a shit! While DJs before us were playing, electricity went down, because they overloaded it, another dj forgot his CDs at home. When we came to stage, there were about 30 people dancing with disappointment in their eyes. After 15 minutes of our set we had about 1000 (i guess) people with hands up to the sky, dancing, jumping, rocking. It was so nice to know, that they are finally enjoying the night, feeling the love coming from crowd. Our set was also longer for 20 minutes, because the owner of festival didn't have money to pay headliner, so he refused to play. We got a lot of positive feedback the day after, like "you saved the night guys".

18) Best DJ set of the year by another fellow DJ:
Both: Shato & Paul Rockseek's set in January, here in Czech republic was mental.

19) Best country which you personally have performed in:
Both: Huh, we have never performed outside Czech Republic. Challenge?

20) Best up-for-it crowd:
Both: As we said in question no. 17 :)

21) Best Radio show:
Both: Tiesto's Club Life is the one right now. Hope he will play our tunes in 2013!

Both: We're used to buy songs at beatport.com for about 5 years.

23) Best Website that you regularly visit:
Voytech: 9gag.com! As they say "Just for fun".

Adam: I mainly visit Metacritics.com. I am movie fan and I was pro-gamer.

24) Best smart phone/mobile phone App or device:
Voytech: I use old shitty Nokia 5530, so i'm glad the mp3 player works there. I have to do an upgrade in 2013, then ask
me about apps.

Adam: Every day at 8am 9gag app wakes me up with some new posts. After a long time I am getting out of my bed with a smile on my face.

25) Best DJ equipment (software and/or hardware, Mixer, Deck etc):
Both:  We're both a Pioneer fans, so we love all thier CDJs and DJMs, but this year HDJ 2000s got my heart, specially
that beautiful design.

Both: "Wob wob wob"

27) Best or most amusing Twitter or Facebook message you have received from a fan or friend or you have read:

31) Any single event which inspired you to compose a track.
Both: Every empty bottle and every cup of coffee.

32) Best tip that you learnt this year for your DJ’ing or music composition
Both: We don't get tips. We only give them. Mostly to the barmaids. The pretty ones.

Outro question:
Dimitri: 2013 lies ahead of us. Would you like to tell us your future plans in relation to releases, tracks, albums,
collaborations or DJ gigs?

Both: Simple goals. Release music, play some gigs, became superstars, nail some chiks. You know, the usual stuff.

Dimitri: Thanks very much for finding the time to respond to this interview

Both: Thanks for questions. And also thanks to Tullamore Dew for inspiration while answering. And to R******  for being free of charge.

Many thanks to Moodies aka Voytech & Adam for their fantastic answers. Really entertaining interview to remind us that we must get life a little bit less serious. There is some editing for the explicit language.

Many thanks to Michel at Soundz Good offices for helping us out to organise interviews with his artists

Many thanks to Paul at 1mix radio for proofing the questions.
