Jonas Steur continues his Tales series on the Black Hole imprint and releases the titles “Still I Wait”, “Mindscape”, “Reflection” and “Multiverse”.
Opening this five track Tales Part 2 release, is “Still I Wait”; a true gem with the super smooth vocals of Jennifer Rene. Jonas submerges us in thick, warm layers of furry synths and deep bass, perfect for a late afternoon set in the setting sun. Jennifer Rene’s singing adds that extra bit of depth and feel to the track and everyone will agree that this could be a classic ISOS track. Just listen to that break. The arrangement is surprisingly different than the known way of building up productions like this, so pay close attention to the way Jonas has written the chord schedule. For the night time sets “Still I Wait” was reworked by Simon Steur, who worked with a tribal drum program and big, hammering synths.
The last three three tracks in the package give us some insight in the incredible production skills of Jonas Steur. First we have “Mindscape”, a superb trancer on the techno tip; then “Reflection”, that leans heavily on a spacious synth melody, bringing back memories of the synthesizer greats from way back when. Last but not least we can enjoy “Through The Multiverse”, an absolute masterpiece that begins with a lenghty, beatless intro, but that will take you on a tell-tale trip once the beats kick in. You just have to take your time to listen to the full Tales Part 2, a true Jonas Steur work of hits!
Dimitri Kechagias: Before a couple of years I met in a superb barbeque in Holland the excellent artist with the name Jonas Steur. I was and I am still tottaly addicted in his wonderful productions and I was happy to do an interview with him and understand his talent and how down to earth he is as a person. Lovely and warm as any true artist should be really. Now his Tales EP's continues in his long run homebase that is Black Hole recordings with Part 2 entitled Spirituality. With this exceptional EP of musical expertise Jonas lifts the trance genre in a higher level. Still I Wait is vocal trance as it should be. Travelling and soothing with Jennifer sounding so sexy and inviting at the same time. Brother Simon steps up to deliver the big uplifting epic progressive house anthem style with the large synths and the fatbasslines. Mindscape is one of those wonderful middle of the set trancers that add this extra something in the set. Reflection is balearic and special with that epic movie style like melody that make me emotional straight away and all the melodies sounding to my ears like crystal clear water, yes its awesome no doubts! Through the Multiverse is again a very large special release that reveals a soundtrack like melody that is inspiring and spiritual for sure and serves the theme of the part of Jona's Tales that set new standards for trance music getting his influences from the past, present and future of the trance genre that everybody declares its dead but its still Alive and Kicking. Spiritual 5 tracks Timeless for sure!!
