Italian producer Heartik's coming at house and tech from a different angle to your average Joe (or Jose). His quirk-filled take on the sound of now has got a different aesthetic to the super polished, identikit grooves filling up your local download store.
Hola! is a beast of a track that's built around upfront, wide percussion and rattling old drum samples that percolate around hypnotically. The beats virtually jump out of the speakers into your face, with a sizeable bass groove and fiesty horn and string sounds peppering the groove for an unusual yet affective affair. It's a track should find favour with anyone who's bored of the same old sounds and patterns. Steve Mac flips the track into a big room, summery house groove on the flip, falling somewhere in between filter house and his tough Rhythm Masters sound of old – a perfect alternative.
Heartik's no one-track pony though, and he fully puts his money where his mouth is with two more delicious grooves on this EP. Opera Rehearsals unfurls from a simple, spacious, jacking groove into something laden with kooky sounds – seaside organ melodies doing battle with classic techno cymbals rides and breakdowns filled with vaguely malicious, dramatic string swells. Piccadilly Circus follows a similar route, with a some even more bizarre organ and wind sounds sandwiched in between pleasing passages of bubbly rhythm and cool snare fills. There's something a bit magical and mystical about these tracks. Tuck in.

Heartik EP with that clever title Circus rehearsals set new standards in the tech house movement with 3 great tracks. Hola has the word summer beach parties written all over it. You know that you can only enjoy it if you wear your hawana style t-shirts, sunglasses, sunbath cream and your best smile too. It has so much fun with the wonderful way that is composed that you can not stop thinking of dancing with it. Hola vocal samples works so well and here you got a massive summer tech house hit knocking your doors. Steve Mac pushes the track in a tougher territory and gives it a UK flavoured hard house meets tech house make over. In my opinion an upfront harder remix should be always offered in the Great Stuff releases. Piccadily Circus is a cool tool to use in tech house mix and keep nice and groovy and finally opera rehearsals add great atmosphere with that slick groove that uses and the dramatic classical music sample. will be a surprise factor in your tech house mix for sure, yes its beautiful. Overall Performance Mark: 10/10
