AWeX techno classic is back for 2011: 1995’s Berlin Love Parade anthem It’s Our Future gets resurrected for the latest edition in the series of lovingly-reconstructed Great Stuff Roots Edition releases.Tom Wax started making music under the name AWeX in 1994 with the aim of making experimental electronic music without boundaries, and created this landmark banger without knowing what was on his hands. A huge slice of acid-fuelled groovy techno. Nu-NRG and shuffling hi-hats, it was rather ahead of its time and makes for excellent remix fodder – as these 3 reworkings ably demonstrate. Holland’s DJ Madskillz shows why he’s so highly in demand with a jacking rework that stays true to the original, giving the percussion a cutting-edge shuffle and teasing the acid in and out of the foreground tantalisingly. It threatens to explode but never quite does, instead working as a very effective tool. Lutzenkirchen gets cheeky and wonky, with a rude descending bass groove throbbing away under sharp beats, galloping rhythms gradually working their way into the mix for extra punch. Tube & Berger go for a heightened sense of drama, weaving some epic piano chords into the breakdown and flexing their own spiky acid line beneath those of the original. Big room breaks with heads down grooves – a winning combination.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Awex – Its Our Future is considered as one of the hottest techno classics that people feel goosebumps when they listen to it even now that the sounds and styles are slower and minimal. The idea to bring it back to life on Great Stuff Roots is fantastic cause simply the younger generations will have the chance to get exposed to  this unforgettable classic through the excellent new interpretations. The always on top Lutzenkirchen goes all the way for a rough progressive house  drive.  He  is  using the cool  vocal samples  and the main melodies  from the original in his own style and the result is an intense party bomb that will get many plays in this summer’s festivals. Dj madskillz offers my favorite version as he stays closer to the original updating the beat and the kick drum but keeping that intense and powerful acid line along with the repetitive vocal sample as it is or distorted in order to take the dancefloor by storm. Big room peak time monster size version for me. Tube and Berger who never fails me too provide a retro tech house style remix on that Yolanda be cool very happy and feel good version. Even they add a nice melancholic breakdown till to bring that techy house beat back again. Now that millions of young people demonstrating in the streets of European cities asking for jobs and better life against the old political system that slowly dies  Its Our Future is more appropriate than ever.
