REVIEW: Bryan Kearney & Bo Bruce - Shine A Light out on Subculture

Overall Score

Bryan Kearney and Bo Bruce have history … or at least more history than their shared discography might suggest! The pair have been discussing the right project to collaborate on, pretty much since Bryan remixed Bo & Gareth Emery’s ‘U’ … all the way back in 2014!

However, more attuned Kearney-watchers will be aware that the last two of those years have seen their team-up advance into its production phase. The two commenced work on ‘Shine A Light’ in 2021 but given the on-again/off-again nature of clubfloors at the time (where ‘Light’ was doubtless destined to shine brightest!), the pair kept pushing it back.

Trance-wires finally began to buzz last summer when Bryan spun it, in demo form, at Luminosity … where, noticeably, it dropped bigger-than-big! Proving that all incredible things come to those that wait, Bryan noted on his Facebook page that ‘Shine’ finally emerged from the studio, “two years … to the day since Bo and I started working on it”!

If you’re wondering where all that time’s gone, well, one listen to ‘Shine A Light’s gleaming production will tell you all you need to know. The track’s brilliance lies in the equilibrium the pair have struck between Bo’s calling voice, the ‘anything’s-possible spirit of her words and the unbridled nature of Bryan’s extraordinary studio work.

Once-heard, clubbing feet will be powerless to resist; ‘Shine A Light’, Bryan & Bo’s first full team up is available through all good sales and streaming platforms from today

Bryan Kearney & Bo Bruce - Shine A Light 10

Summary

Bryan Kearney is back with an excellent uplifting trance beauty of the highest order. He collaborates with Bo Bruce on the exceptional Shine A Light. Pumping pounding basslines, thumping kicks and metallic percussion and excellent Ibiza style tempo trance beat leading in the very strong breakdown when Bo Bruce takes center stage and shine with her emotional super touching performance. The euphoric synths are clean sharp and beautiful to drive any trancers to heaven and beyond. Without any gimmicks and cheap sound effects the track with its simplicity and its faith in the by the book trance recipe delivers straight forward feel good moments that can even make you cry for sure. #PureGold Love iT
