ADE 2016: Rijksmuseum's Bicycle Passage added to ADE's Festival

Audio Obscura and Maceo Plex join forces for a special collaboration at the world famous museum on Friday October 21.

After recent announcements about ADE Next and ADE Sound Lab it is now time to reveal one special addition to the ADE Festival, as the world-famous Rijksmuseum will open its gates for an unexpected musical authority, Maceo Plex, at the iconic Bicycle Passage in the Rijksmuseum.

Having taken his place in the booth for Audio Obscura a number of times, a perfect musical match for the museum was found in Maceo Plex. Known for his enigmatic combinations of grooving, melancholic and ecstatic house and techno, the American DJ and producer visited the museum for some ground-level inspiration, listening to unique recordings from its collection of classical instruments.

Where bicycles cross under the Rijksmuseum during the day, for one evening only on October 21st, the Bicycle Passage will belong to dance enthusiasts. This is the first time the museum has collaborated on a project that revolves around electronic music, matching the museum’s vision to let visitors experience art in exciting new ways. Music is very important to the museum, not only because of the large collection of instruments housed in the building, but also because music plays an important symbolical role in a large number of paintings exhibited.
