ADE 2016: De School makes its ADE debut

Âme, Dixon, Four Tet, Floating Points, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Optimo among the artists to play the club's five day ADE program.

After the announcement of the full program of HDE and the first speakers of the ADE University program, it is time for another festival line-up, as De School reveales what they have in store during ADE.

Luc, programmer of De School elaborated on the thoughts behind their five days of ADE:"One of the first things that springs to mind is the collective spirit. I remember goosebumps when walking out of university class, seeing the yellow flags as Jeff Mills passed by humming. In times of tragic ends to clubs around Europe, it’s good to join forces, show up, join in and establish oneself. The idea of a city in a groove is magnetic."
Almost a year ago during ADE, the people behind De School gave a tour of the building on a dark Thursday night to Four Tet. They were strolling through a dark building, basically still just an old school. For Wednesday they’ve invited Four Tet for a return to De School, accompanied by Floating Points. On Thursday they have Optimo playing alongside locals and on Friday they praise record store Rush Hour, with head honcho Antal who will bring Hunee, next to long time Rush Hour employees.

From Saturday to Monday night it is time for the third edition of Het Weekend, with the notorious smokers Jennifer Cardini and Lena Willikens, Mojuba captain Don Williams and two men De School shares a long warm history with, Âme and Dixon. The garden will be open for ambient music, hosted by Izabel.

The concert venue of De School is host to a special show with Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ, bringing together Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith who will perform alongside local BEA1991. Records before and after by Oceanic.

Beside their ADE festival program de School also hosts a small conference on Friday together with Amsterdam's night-mayor – focusing on collaboration with local authorities, mental and physical health; and diversity and sexuality in club culture. This short school day will be an open conference, free of charge and accessible to everyone. And between the ongoing yoga and boxing classes during the day, Het Gymlokaal will be host to a one day football tournament together with Resident Advisor. Thursday afternoon record dealers, festival hosts and DJs will fight for the ADE cup.
