REVIEW: Rea Garvey - Armour(Younotus remix) out on Island / Universal Music Germany

As a first single is "ARMOUR" the perfect harbinger of Rea Garvey's forthcoming album "PRISMA". It provides a foretaste of the clearer direct sound that brings the shimmering synths of "Can not Stand The Silence" and the acoustic instrumentation of "Pride" in the background, thereby but the distinctive "gang-vocal" harmonies that you come to expect at Garvey, maintains. "ARMOUR" is a direct call to action and a stance: "Do not be afraid to get loud".

Starting with a pulsating bassline, an almost military drumbeat and restrained, almost melancholic vocals to "ARMOUR" Garvey builds the bridge towards an explosive chorus on and encouraged to speak out. This shows at the same time the power of vulnerability. seems to be the object of an unspecified anger to be, but the confidence he puts in the protagonist of the song is so strong that he is willing, perhaps to face the confrontation with an open mind, even with sacrifice -. "Got No amour on my heart / so fire away. "Conversely," your armor weighs you down "with respect to the doubts and fears that we all too often tempted to be unnecessarily defensive.

There are the typical themes: Optimism in times of doubt and failure, grown show situations and emotional transparency that have supported Garvey going over the years to win his loyal fanbase for themselves. He himself says, "ARMOUR is a reflection of my emotions and make a statement; You are an individual and if you are not happy with the world in which we live -., Get Loud '' Granted, this is easier said than done, but something like the sheer power of music, not least Garvey's music can inspire.

Again by longtime Garvey producer and collaborator, Andy Chatterley, produced and co-written with ex "One Republic" member, Tim Myers, "ARMOUR" was recorded in Berlin's legendary Hansa Studios - birthplace of U2's "Achtung Baby", along with countless other renowned albums. Sounding guitars, massive bass and large airy drums dominate the song, while still continue to adhere to the distinctive pop-rock strand which has Garvey, is so well known within his 15 years, marked by hits career. It is this compelling combination of the familiar and the willingness to explore new musical territories (the banjo-driven Pogue-isms of "Can not Say No" as just one example), the "armor" to the latest, captivating stopover Garvey's musical journey makes.

It is, so to speak sweet irony that at the same time with the release of Rea Garvey's new single "ARMOUR", a cover of his debut single "Supergirl" conquered the charts worldwide. The sales of "Super Girl" is a clear proof of the power of the song and although it is flattering to be gecovert so disengaged "ARMOUR" strongly in memory where the original of "Supergirl" and more importantly, Garvey himself, lyrical and musically come. Garvey goes, with passion and conviction, his own way.

Dimitri Kechagias review:  The exceptional and truly beloved Rea Garvey is back with his album Prisma that contains the latest single Armour. The first version to surface from the single is the Younotus remix that will become an instant favourite in the deep house community. The upcoming and quickly rising deep house duo from Berlin service an exceptional classy make over with great percussion, tribalish drums, deep haunting melodies, vintage synths, cinematic strings and of course the angelic raw and original rock voice of Rea Garvey. Armour remixed by Younotus is transformed into a very bitter sweet, summery, relaxing, anthem that can easily become the perfect holiday soundtrack. Rea is definitely one of those artists that doesnt afraid to co-operate with electronic music producers and he doesn't stay in the safety net of his rock heritage. He is a True Artist that's for sure. Don't Miss IT! Love iT
