REVIEW: Chris Bekker - Invader out on VANDIT records

01: Invader

Alongside fellow ‘Chris’ Montana, ‘Telling Tales’ marked his last appearance on VANDIT’s discography. This time out though Chris Bekker is riding solo. The result is ‘Invader’ – a slice of cinematically atmospheric, multidenominational electronic music that’ll keeps the pigeonholers guessing & reassessing from first beat to last.

In the need for some proper sonic mood-food!? Well you’ve come to the right place… Chris opens the track with long highly-strung strings, before weighing in with trooping beats and tense, fire-starting sub-riffs.

As stompy, stormy and atmospheric as you like, on the floor ‘Invader’ is what ‘Invader’ does. Sometime trancey, occasionally prog-house-ish, with festival overtones and electro undertones, the Berliner has them all here to hear. ‘Invader’ gets the exclusive drop on Beatport on July 28.

* You can catch Chris Bekker ‘invading’ Paul van Dyk’s We Are One 2014 festival in Berlin alongside a host of other DJs this August 16 – full details here: www.weareonefestival.com/ *

Dimitri Kechagias review: VANDIT records is always openminded to wide variety of sounds and styles. Paul van Dyk as the owner and the main ear that first listens any demo that is send in is considered to be one of the most advanced music composers with great ability to spot new talents and invest in them. His latest discovery is Chris Bekker. After his excellent co-production Telling Tales he comes solo with his fantastic anthem Invader that is offered in two different versions. The Original mix starts quite tribal, techy, chunky while the bassline is quite deep and throbbing. The breakdown is truly magical with high class synths that remind us trance classics from the past. The climax is pretty straight forward and perfect to dance and shake your body along. The track is the right and exact to play in your warm up part of the set and start the excitement building up to the maximum. The Code edit is an interesting uplifting euphoric take on the original with great arrangement that slowly add the various sound layers with short breakdowns that allow all the various melodies to come to the surface and bring happiness to the dancefloor. On the final longer break the colourful classic trance synths appear to bring euphoria and positivity that continue in the climax that is pure proglifting trance magic perfect for the time of your set that you wish to bridge the more progressive with euphoric prog trance ones. #PureGold Love It
