ADE 2014: Junkie XL confirmed for ADE MusicTalks

Tom Holkenborg, better known as Junkie XL or JXL, will be taking part in ADE's unique artist/fan forum ADE MusicTalks.

Holkenborg is a Grammy nominated multi-platinum producer and composer whose versatility puts him on the cutting edge of contemporary music, as well as at the vanguard of film composition. He is able to draw on his extensive knowledge of classical forms and structures while keeping one finger planted firmly on the pulse of popular music. When this eclectic background is paired with his skill as a multi-instrumentalist (he plays keyboards, guitar, drums, violin, and bass) and a mastery of studio technology, a portrait emerges of an artist for whom anything is possible.

Alongside his ongoing recording career, Holkenborg has also been highly successful as a composer for film and video games, collaborating with Hans Zimmer on The Dark Knight Rises and Madagascar, and scoring several editions of Need For Speed, The Sims 3, Darkspore and The Matrix: Path of Neo. His music has also been used in advertising campaigns by leading brands including Nike, Adidas, Heineken and Cadillac. Having been classically trained, he is also heavily involved in encouraging and bringing on the next generation of musicians and producers, through his work as an associate professor at leading Dutch music institute the ArtEZ Conservatorium.

Holkenborg first came to the attention of electronic music lovers with his solo album Saturday Teenage Kick released in 1999, but it was his astonishing remix of Elvis Presley's A Little Less Conversation that established him internationally. A year later he released Radio JXL: A Broadcast from the Computer Hell Cabin which featured guest appearances by Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan, Robert Smith of The Cure, Peter Tosh, Chuck D, Gary Numan and Solomon Burke.
