Rewind to 2006 and a classic release on the now defunct Deepblue Recordings - Adam Nickey’s ‘Perfect Destiny’. Former label owner Solarstone plucked this forgotten gem from the Deepblue archive and has given it a set of stunning new mixes for 2014. Beginning with the Finnish Winkee’s beautiful mix (opener from Solarstone’s ‘Pure Trance 2' album) the track has lost none of its charm and sophistication. Staying faithful to the Original’s melodic ebb and flow, Winkee have underpinned the melodies with layers of Pure Trance lusciousness. Huge soaring pads provide the euphoria and the tribal percussion in the break provides the drama. Fellow Finlander Allende matches the majesty of Winkee’s mix with his own piece of brilliance. Tougher than the Winkee mix, this is more peak time stuff, kicking off with an acidic arpeggio Allende brings a twist to the proceedings with his extension of the chord progression and a sharp stabbing riff. But don’t think it ends there, at the midpoint a huge analogue riff reminiscent of classic Tiësto productions thunders into the mix, lifting this piece of music to another level entirely. Completing this package is the classic Original Version, which still sounds brilliant today with a fresh re-mastering.
Dimitri Kechagias review: Touchstone recordings is one of the incredible record labels headed by Solarstone who is responsible for the Pure Trance movement that reclaims its Pure trance sound back away from experimentations and variety of influences. The idea to reclaim back one of the finest tracks ever, the golden classic Perfect Destiny by Adam Nickey will be welcomed by older and younger generations of trancers. First of all the incredible Winkee proves that he is one of the big players in the trance scene. His version is superb progressive trance rework that takes advantage of the original elements and brings them up to date in a beautiful balearic soundscape that is tripping, relaxing but very danceable at the same time. Packed with fresh approach by being faithful to the trance genre basics its definitely a must play for any descent trance dj out there. Allende remix is moving on the more peak time direction and is definitely a very wise move as the more upfront trance djs will find a suitable version to play. Just watch out for the old school section in the breakdown that bring some disco influences in the trance table. Of course the classic trance voices, the beautiful whispering female vocal and euphoric synths are present to carry us away in the climax that floats so nicely. 11 minutes that you want to play out all of it as there is so much progression and energy to it. What can we say about the original version that is included as well? This Is What I Call Trance, Love it
