FEATURE: IDMA 'Breakthrough DJS' Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike reveal what is Wakanda?

Move over ‘Harlem Shake’ – if national Belgian media has anything to do with it, there’s a new craze in town!

The ‘Wakanda’, named after last month’s huge international club smash from brothers Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, is essentially the art of cramming as many people as possible into or onto small spaces or random objects and then collectively ‘fist-pumping’ as fast as you can to the track’s epic break-down.

MNM (Music And More), the European country’s biggest radio broadcaster, decided to get in on the action, posting a video featuring various staff members packing themselves into a variety of small spaces including an elevator, a soft top car and a washroom, and at one point even dangling precariously off a rather rickety looking ladder.

It’s not only the guys down at MNM that have been inspired by ‘Wakanda’ – DVLM fan Evka C’mon has released possibly the hottest video ever to hit the pages of YouTube – so raunchy in fact that on its initial posting, the online site’s powers that be deemed it too hot to handle, removing it in a matter of minutes. Now edited to pass guidelines – just! – the video comes with an R-rating and unsurprisingly is already proving a massive hit with internet viewers.

2013 is already stacking up to be a huge year for Dimitri and Mike, who not only scooped the coveted Breakthrough DJ award at last week’s International Dance Music Awards in Miami, but are still owning the influential Beatport Top 100 Chart for a third week with their number 1 hit single ‘Mammoth’, a co-production with German titan MOGUAI. It seems, however, that the world is still not quite finished with ‘Wakanda’.
