REVIEW: Discover the latest smash by Andy Prinz featuring Mathew Tassa

Andy Prinz featuring Matthew Tassa - Breaking Through out soon via Offshore (Swiss)

1-Original Radio edit
2-Salim Gueven Remix & Edit
3-Dave Emanuel trance remix

Review by Dimitri Kechagias: Get ready for one of the finest trance releases of the year that can crossover very easily to mainstream radio as well. Beautiful ambient sounds merged with strong guitar theme and on the top the superb Matthew Tassa that I totally loved his voice on the classic Words that i hope can come back with brand new mixes. Original has a pop dance appeal and I'm sure teenagers and light trance lovers will enjoy. Salim Gueven offers a very cool 135 BPM trance dance version that has the energy to get you right up to the skies. Long break and Long outro perfect for your mixing needs is the order of the day. Dave Emanuel that lately is making waves in the global trance scene with releases and remixes deliver here a fantastic 8 minutes epic bouncy driving mix with lovely additional new happy trance riff and great work on the first short breakdown and then on the large one. It is tough but at the same time chilly trancer that can work on a big tech trance set and in more relaxed prog trance sets. Of course this release is so good that needs additional remixes to shine even more. Number 1 in my weekly Top 30 and must have for your collection when will be released.

Some additional about Andy Prinz. His  love for Electronic Music was born in the mid Eighties when he got bored from the usual piano lessions. Fascinated by new developments and innovations in synthesizer and sampler technologies, Andy soon desired to compose his own songs and make a mark in the Music scene. Computer based music was still at its early stages during this period. Along with two friends from the EBM (Electronic Body Music) scene, Andy formed the synthpop-combo DELAY in the summer of 1991. Soon afterward DELAY had its first live-gig as a supporting act of THE YOUNG GODS.

In the spring of 1992 DELAY presented “Pep Pill”, a 15 track demo CD, which resulted in a record contract with the German label OFF BEAT paving the way for more future releases. The CD-EP “Working In The Factory” advanced to be an underground hit in the EBM and Dark Wave clubs, and the debut album “Underdogs” gained resonance in the entire pan-european EBM / Darkwave scene. “An Altered State of Consciousness”, the band’s second album, was presented with a tour of the synth-pop trio across Germany. Gigs took place in cities like Cologne, Berlin, Bochum, Munich, Nurnberg, Bremen and more.

A new milestone was the making of the 3rd album named “Winter Paranoia” as the whole album was produced and recorded for the first time in Andy Prinz’s own home studio. This expermimental album became a bestseller!

In the beginning of 1996 Andy Prinz began moving his talent towards the Tech-Trance style and joined forces with his friend MAC LANE in early 1997, after having completed the DELAY remix album “Keep In Mind”.

AND-E & MAC LANE’s first production “Monologue” entered the playlist of DJ Gogo, resident at the famous afterhour club OXA. Tracks that followed were quickly played by all major Swiss DJ’s. The single “How I Feel” was part of nearly every DJ’s playlist, likewise “Let Your Mind flow” and finally the fourth production “Swallow It Down”, which was also available as a CD Maxisingle and even made it onto the mega selling TWILO Vol.1 compilation – mixed by Junior Vasquez. The fifth production by AND-E & MAC LANE named “You are Virus” was released in the year 2000 on the German label UCMG-Proton and found its way onto the playlists of international DJ’s. It was soon after that Andy also decided to produce his first solo-vinyl single “Into The Ocean” which was released on Sirup Music, DJ Tatana’s label.

After having worked as Product Manager for Steinberg Media Technologies’s distributor in Switzerland, Andy decided to go professionally and make his own business with “Andy Prinz Pro Audio Publishing”, a production and publishing company (with its own label division called “Offshore Music”, founded in 2004). Along with DJ Jaro he composed and produced the track “Everlast”, which later became the original version of DJ Tatana’s chart-breaker “Words”. After DJ Tandu provided the vocals for the track Andy Prinz went on to produce 5 remixes of “Words”, including the Radio Edit version which took the Swiss Charts by storm. No one would have expected such a success from the production: “Words” entered the Swiss Top 10 charts (peak at no.5),stayed there for 15 weeks and resulted in Andy’s first “Gold Award” for over 20’000 sold units in CH only. The DJ Tatana tracks for her album “Superpop” produced and composed by Andy & Tatana reached “Platinum status” (over 40’000 sold units). Another big success!

Numerous productions, including Andy’s own follow up “Chaos In Motion” entered the DDC and other Dance charts. In the Summer of 2002 Sony Music Switzerland signed both DJ Jaro and Andy Prinz for the album “Wonder Milk”. The album single “Turn The Night” was A-listed on VIVA TV where it went no.1 in the Dance Charts and the song also entered the Swiss charts.

So as to continue furthering his name and unleashing more of his creativity with a focus towards the international Dance music scene Andy produced the Dutch trance bomb “Thru The Nite” under the AYION guise. The track made it onto various playlists by the likes of Ferry Corsten, Darren Tate or Armin Van Buuren and could be found in the Dutch Dance Charts.

The ASTURA track “Orion’s Belt”, a progressive trance hymn got discovered and signed by Raz Nitzan from “Fundamental Recordings”. The Promo release of “Orion’s Belt” realized one of Andy’s greatest dreams, to have some of the world’s best DJ’s show the appreciation of his productions during numerous sets. To name a few, “Orion’s Belt” was on DJ Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Tall Paul, Darren Tate and Judge Jules’ and many other DJ’s playlists – the track was also featured on various big compilations all around the world and after Darren Tate also licensed the track for the English territory on his Mondo Records label, the track entered the British Dance Charts!!!
Further international exposure was attained for productions made for DJ’s like Timeok, DJ Greenhead, Bart, Christopher S and many more. In early 2004, Andy officially remixed Armin van Buuren’s “Future Fun Land” which was released under Armin’s “Perpetuous Dreamer” guise.
If all these achievements were not enough, Andy came to the decision to form his own record label OFFSHORE MUSIC (a division of “Andy Prinz Pro Audio Publishing”) in January 2004, after having presented a monthly radio show named “World In Motion” on DI.FM.

The ASTURA follow-up “Cassiopeia” was given a 5 star rating in the DJ MAG and resulted in various following ASTURA remix duties.

For EMI Music Switzerland, Andy co-composed and produced the official Street Parade anthem 2006 “Move Your Mind” which once again entered the Official Swiss Top 30. Besides that, he started compiling, clearing and mixing numerous compilations for various major labels, including 4 “Street Parade” compilations, 5 “Maxx Tuner” CD’s and many more (so far Andy has mixed more than 17 compilations).

Next to his job as Managing Director and A&R of Offshore Music, Andy Prinz started working on his first solo-album named “Distant Horizon”, to provide a new insite on his production capabilities in a far range of music styles. The album was finished in spring 2009 and features guest appearances by composers Raz Nitzan and Adrian Broekhuyse and vocals by various singers such as Maedy, Simon Binkenborn, Naama Hillman, Sir Adrian, Miss Royal-S and Devijo.

Since January 2008, Andy Prinz is signed with the publishing company SONY/ATV in Berlin, Germany. One year later he signs a local distribution deal for OFFSHORE MUSIC with Sony Music.
Since May 2009 and after the moval of his office and studio (both located at the EMI Music offices in Zurich), Andy started re-concentrating on his own production career and began working on numerous new side projects. The digital album release of “Distant Horizon” (Andy’s first solo-album with various guest vocalists) was released in August 2009 and entered the Swiss iTunes Dance Charts, with a peak at position 4!

Business wise, Andy’s company got re-organized in 2010, with a main focus on publishing. After having helped to build up other artists’s careers (e.g. Aly & Fila who are now signed with Armada) and after the buyout of Aly & Fila and FSOE Recordings, the publishing business has become even more important (Andy Prinz Publishing takes care of exclusive composers such as Aly & Fila or Bjorn Akesson). By end of 2010, the exclusive and global co-publishing contract with Sony/ATV Germany got extended, both for the company and Andy himself.

Andy is currently working for new sideprojects / under new guises such as “Starseekers”, “Glamotronik” or external artists such as NAZ B (single/video “One Life”). And together with René, he’s producing new songs for the long awaited “And-E & Mac Lane” comeback.

Besides that, Andy finished his new single “Breaking Through” (together with Matthew Tasa, the vocalist of “Words”) and keeps on finalizing two new side projects in the Soundtrack and Chill-Out genres.

2011 will bring loads of new releases..! To be continued…
