Progressive Review: Ayokay - Signs out on Anjunabeats

Platinum-certified singer, songwriter and producer, ayokay, returns to Anjunabeats with his second single on the label, ‘Signs’.

Born Alex O'Neill, Detroit-born artist/vocalist/producer ayokay first burst onto the scene with his breakthrough single 'Kings of Summer' which featured his childhood friend, and frequent collaborator, Quinn XCII. Since its arrival in summer 2016, the song has amassed over 175 million streams and received platinum certification with the RIAA.

Delivering his debut EP in 2017, ayokay continued his upward momentum by releasing his acclaimed full-length debut album 'In the Shape of a Dream' in 2018. Featuring collaborations with Jeremy Zucker, Nightly, Future Jr., and more, the album includes several songs that finds ayokay handling lead vocals for the first time.

Spending a year producing outside projects with pop artists, he returned in 2021 to roll out his long awaited sophomore album 'Digital Dreamscape', breaking ayokay through into the electronic music space.

After a massive two years of touring in 2022 & 2023 alongside Elderbrook, Emmit Fenn, and Chelsea Cutler, ayokay cemented his name as a must see live dance act with his third original single of 2024 and his first on Anjunabeats, ‘Feel It’. Since its debut in April earlier this year, the track has amassed over half a million streams and received radio spins from SiriusXM BPM and Diplo’s Revolution.

Now, ayokay is back with his followup single on Anjunabeats, and his seventh of the year, with 'Signs'. The track was road tested recently at Palm Tree Festival in Dana Point, California where he supported The Chainsmokers and Chelsea Cutler.

“Signs” was the result of working with some of the most talented collaborators I’ve worked with. The song captures an anthemic and euphoric feel that feels only suited for a festival stage alongside your favorite people. The melodic track bumps at a high tempo and feels like an energy rush all the way through, and is released with a dance label that I’ve been a fan of for many years."

ayokay ‘Signs’ is out now on Anjunabeats.
