Name: LawrenceQ
Your location(country,city): Windsor, Canada

Dimitri: Can you mention your biggest music career achievements in 2017?
LawrenceQ: My release with OHM Music thus far has been great, really looking forward to working with them more in the future! Also have some work in the background for other labels for early 2018 releases.
Dimitri: Can you mention your biggest personal life achievements in 2017 that make you extremely proud?
LawrenceQ: Inside of music: Releasing a couple of tracks, staying consistent with my production discipline, and making sure to go out once in a while to hear how tracks are sounding in the clubs. Outside of music? Bought a home with my fiance :)
1) Best Track from other artists:
Markus Schulz - Luce Prima

2) Your top 3 2017 personal productions
Omair Mirza - Beautiful Mystery (LawrenceQ Remix)

3) Best Artist (Dj & producer):
Markus Schulz

4) Best Remix from other artist:
Dash Berlin/Roxanne Emery - Shelter (Photographer Remix)

5) Best Remix that you have produced?
Omair Mirza - Beautiful Mystery (LawrenceQ Remix)

6) Best Remixer:
Dan Stone - Also a fantastic original producer, but his remixes are always spot on. On the lower tempo - Danilo Ercole, especially some of the track he has released on OHM Music's label. Solid talent.

7) Best New Talent (Dj or producer):
Davey Asprey - his sound replicates the trance 1.0 feel, but delivery is so unique - just listen to "Fallout".

8) Best Electronic Music Album:
I don't have any favourite, too many great ones to select from: ASOT year mixes, Markus Schulz - Thoughts Become Things, Ferry Corsten - Twice in a Blue Moon, etc

9) Best Electronic Music Compilation:
Hmm, Tiesto - ISOS 2/3/4 - amazing works in those albums.

10) Best artwork/cover of an Album or Compilation:
Take a look at the label art that OHM releases, it's really cool but not over the top. Creativity to complement the good music.

11) Best Lyrics in an Electronic Music track (it can be your production or from other artists)

Super8 & Tab feat Julie Thompson - My Enemy (Rank 1 Remix), Roxanne Emery - Shelter

12) Best Vocalist/Singer featured on Electronic Music track:
As per above. Credit to all the other vocalists out there, so many great voices.

13) Best Electronic Music Label:
FSOE

14) Best Online Social media for communication with your fans:
Probably Facebook, was very useful, or Instagram as it's very efficient in sending out various forms of communication.

15) Best Twitter or Facebook message or Instagram message you received from a fan or friend or you have read on someone else’s account:
I read a really cool comment on Aly & Fila's Twitter when they dropped one of my tracks (Dark Entity - Reflection), ep 414. Comment was "Showing the world the true meaning of trance". I think the breakdown in that track connected with a lot of the trance fans. Very grateful for that.

16) Best music composition software:
Logic Pro X, duh!

17) Best Club Event or Open Air Festival:
Hmmm, Labour of Love in Toronto used to be phenomenal, RIP Guv! I'd like to go to ASOT in Netherlands though.

18) Best personal Dj Gig:
Opening for Ferry Corsten or Gareth Emery were really fun nights :)

19) Best DJ set of the year from other fellow DJ:
Hmm, I just saw Markus at Rebel in Toronto, and it was by far one of the better sets I've heard in years. Spot on!

20) Best country that you have played in 2017 and where did you met the best festival/event crowd:
I haven't actually DJ'd this year, focused on some personal endeavours and producing music. Can't wait to get behind decks again.

21) Best Radio show or Artist Vlog?:
ASOT, FSOE, Saad Ayub's Tranced, GDJB.

22) Best Radio station:
Don't have one per say.

23) Best Online Record shop that you purchase your music:
Beatport does the job very well. Producer wise - Freshly Squeezed Samples and also Myloops, both phenomenal resources.

24) Best music related website that you visit frequently:
Funnily enough, I start with Facebook and it leads me to various articles of interest.

25) Best Dj equipment (software or hardware):
True & tested Pioneer CDJ/mixer setup. Nothing as fun as mixing in tracks manually.

26) Best tip that you learnt this year for your Djing techniques or music composition:
Patience, and walking away from a production, coming back to it afterwards. You have to give your ears a good rest, which also allows your mind to relax, so that when you come back to the track you are able to notice deficiencies you missed earlier.

27) Best piece of advice you got in relation to your career in 2017:
Don't stop, it's a marathon.

28) Best hobby or activity that you spent a lot of time in 2017:
Going running with my dog, and learning more about personal finance!

29) Best holiday destination for 2017 either to relax or to perform in a club or festival:
Mexico, Riviera Maya!

30) Best Electronic Music magazines in printed form not online:
N/A - save trees.

31) Best Movie of the year that may inspire you to compose a track:
Actually there's a game on my phone based around protecting your wall an invading Europe as Roman's. One section of it has a lovely chord progression that I may borrow.

32) Best online/PC/video game of the year that you have played this year?
Jurassic Park - Park Creator, or Evil Within

33) Best electronic music related joke you heard this year and make you still laugh:
N/A. However, here's a classic: What kind of bees make milk? Boobies! hehehe

34) The saddest electronic music news you heard this year and still makes u cry:
I saw someone OD - it sucks. Party responsibly guys, and ALWAYS look out for each other.

Dimitri: Finally, please tell our readers your plans with your future releases, tracks, albums, collaborations, DJ gigs.
LawrenceQ: Now that my production level is much improved, I plan on creating tracks in a variety of bpm's: 130, 134, and 138 are my sweet spots.

Thanks to Omair Mirza at OHM music for making possible this interview.
