ADE 2017: ADE Green confirms Pussy Riot's Nadya Tolokonnikova

'Art for social change' is this year's central theme of the conference track on innovation, sustainability and social change.

ADE Green confirms keynote by Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova at ADE Green; let’s start a revolution! This fifth edition of the conference track (DeLaMar, Wednesday October 18) is all about how to stimulate innovation, sustainability and social change, not only within the music and festival industry, but with the objective of inspiring our audience to move out of their comfort zone in order to engage with the big challenges we all face.

What to expect?
The music community has genuine global reach and consequently is able to unleash its collective imagination and passion like few other industries. It produces role models, dreams and questions, which can pave the way to a better future for all of us. At ADE Green we focus on reaching out to the decision makers in the music and festival industry to ignite, inspire and strengthen sustainability, innovation and social change.

This year we aim to inspire by showing how incredible artists and thinkers from all over the world have contributed to the larger cause in Art For Social Change, in which Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova will talk about the spirit of resistance and how you too can start a revolution. Because the big question remains; how can you encourage and motivate the festival crowd to participate in social and sustainable actions during a festival, and, most importantly, beyond the time spent at festivals and events? And what about the circle economy approach in which we rethink and redesign modern society? How can we look beyond the current “take, use and dispose” mentality, and challenge how we define products and services in order to cut out waste? And while we’re on the subject of waste, what do we actually really know about plastic and which innovative companies are going to define next year’s festival season? At ADE Green we also look at the more practical side of things, like how to implement a smart power plan or by examining the right way to communicate your sustainable initiatives. This is just the first part of what we will be presenting during ADE Green. The full program will be announced shortly.

Together we can make a difference
In order to really counter the big challenges in this world, it is of primary importance to work together for a more sustainable future. Therefore collective efforts are a major issue for a platform such as ADE Green, given that it is supported by a broad range of players in the festival and music industry who share beliefs that go far beyond the perimeters of their festival enclosures. We are therefore very proud to announce that for this year’s edition, ADE Green has partnered with Absolut and is co-developed through program partners City of Amsterdam, DGTL, Nachtlab Agency, Q-dance, Vierdaagse Feesten and industry ambassadors such as Amsterdam Open AIR, Awakenings, b2s, Friendly Fire, Green Events Nederland, ID&T, Julie’s Bicycle, Mandala Festival, Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, Mysteryland, Open-House, Sensation and VVEM.

During ADE Green, we will feature speakers including Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova (RU), Arcadia Spectacular (GB), Sophie Thomas (GB) and representatives of Shambala (GB), Into The Great Wide Open (NL), Roskilde (DK), Glastonbury (GB), A Greener Festival (GB). Next Nature (NL), Climate Outreach (GB) and many, many more.
