When you're down, they say that one of the best ways to feel better about your situation is to stop where you stand, and find someone you can help. Paradoxically, when you feel that you are your poorest, give some of your money away. When you feel no one is listening to you, listen to other people. The universe has a strange way when it comes to things like this, and The Bearded Man tried it out for himself one day. He was concerned about how he was going to pay for his hostel that week, and he only had $10 to his name. There was a beggar outside of his hostel, and he decided he'd give $2 of it to the beggar just to see what happened. Nothing. Well, he certainly felt better about himself for helping someone in need, but the universe didn't pay him back just then. Now he only had $8 left. What now? Unsure of whether or not anyone would employ him, he started walking the streets, thinking about how to get money. Suddenly, a mugger jumped out from around the corner with a knife. He asked for all The Bearded Man's money. When the mugger saw that he only had $8, he said: "You know what? It's not even worth it." We'll never know whether the mugger would have taken the original $10 bill, but one thing's for sure - the less you have, the less you have to lose. When The Bearded Man made his first million a few years later, he wondered if he'd really learned anything at all from the experience.
