Label favourite Oliver Smith has continued to impress in the deep house world over the last 18 months with his Meramek project; ‘Know Me’ and ‘Only You’ finding support from the likes of Eric Prydz, Danny Howard and Gorgan City. Reprising his classic progressive alias for two cuts from Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats Volume 12 compilation (which has seen him appear on every edition), Ollie delivers a dynamic double A-side EP, ‘Mirage' and ‘Your Love’.
Rich big room affair, ‘Mirage’ has the hallmarks of an Ollie Smith production; quirky vocal hits and instantly recognisable melody that deliver on the dance floor, as seen at its debut outing during Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy 150 broadcast.
Channelling the Detroit infused deepness of Claude Von Stroke and Booka Shade circa 2006, ‘Your Love’ is a distinctive record. Feeling thoroughly modern in its gritty bassline and quirky riff, you can clearly hear hints of his Meramek alter-ego shinning through this progressive number.
While Oliver Smith records are few and far between, these are two fine additions to his extensive Anjuna arsenal.
