Kwettr, initiative from Dutch record company Black Hole Recordings, makes and rents out digital pop up stores where people can pay with tweets. As from now, visitors of Kwettr pop up stores can also pay using Instagram.
How does it work?
Visitors pay for products by sending out tweets about the store, creating awareness on Twitter. An Instagram follow button is added, and once people click this button they can choose products from the store. Products are delivered by sending a personal message containing a download link.
Visitors of the store benefit from this because they do not need to create an account or use credit card or bank details. Companies that rent a store can benefit from this in several ways. Useful marketing data is collected and social media channels gain more followers. Kwettr makes and operates the store, staff is provided for as long as the store is opened.
Success of Kwettr
“Last year we got the idea to open an online store to sell music in return for tweets. We received great feedback and we decided to rent out stores to other companies as well. During Midem, the international music conference in Cannes, France, Kwettr was one of the finalists in the annual competition for best marketing idea for 2015.” says Bas Kruijssen, New Media & Marketing manager of Black Hole Recordings and founder of Kwettr. “We are always looking for new ways to reach more people. Instagram is one of the fastest growing social media, and still not touched by marketing tricks such as ‘like and share’ on Facebook. It is an untainted marketplace for social media marketing. For us this is a main reason the introduce pay with Instagram.”
Services of Kwettr include personnel for the store, customer service, product deliveries, Twitter Ad Campaigns, data analysis, collecting marketing data and recommendations on how to improve activities on social media.
Digital pop up stores can be rent for a certain period of time, or until stock expires. Minimum rental period is one month, price is depending on the duration of the rental period.
