With its conference programme nearing completion, ADE Green has confirmed Rob Scully (GB) will be joining the “Major Tom to Ground Control” energy panel alongside Into The Great Wide Open’s Govert Reeskamp (NL) and Chris Johnson (GB) of Powerful Thinking. Rob Scully is a veritable giant of the green eventing industry, being one of the co-founders of the Croissant Neuf Summer Party, a festival run entirely on renewable energy, and over 15 years of experience of festival site management. The panel will be looking at recent developments in monitoring, generator efficiency, systems design, and demand management using case studies of festivals monitoring their energy requirements.
“The Future, Jim, But Not As We Know It” energy panel features a series of speed presentations by innovative technology suppliers, and will be looking at how event organisers can use their unique position to work with engineers and suppliers in trialling the energy technologies of the future.
Greenpeace’s Brian Fitzgerald (NL) will be keynote speaker during the Open-House panel. This panel features a challenge in which five startups will pitch their ideas about sustainability and innovation in the festival industry. Fitzgerald will give an inspirational talk on inventing the future: the power of the story of human ingenuity.
In Food for Thought: Audience Engagement 3.0, the collective power of festival audiences and how to get them involved in innovation, social change and sustainability during festivals is under the microscope. Panellists include Claire Gaide of the Festival Think Tank at We Love Green Paris, and Jacob Bilabel (DE) of the Green Music Initiative moderating.
Before closing with drinks, during More People, More Problems? Greening a Monster co-curated by Green Music Initiative, first-hand experiences by the people behind The Eurovision Song Contest’s green strategy and ID&T’s Celebrate Nature strategy will discuss the challenges faced and solutions behind the steps when greening huge events. Panellist include Carlijn Lindemulder (NL) from ID&T and Martin Weishäupl (AT) from Eurovision Song Contest.
Furthermore, workshops on Communicating Sustainability, Good Festival Food and Green Festival Management go into tools and tricks for ADE Green delegates to use in their daily activities.
