Phi Phi & Airwave's newest collaboration session has produced another stomper with Vanilla. It's stunning the work these guys put in, a dedication that always pays off. Their last outing, The Horn was a huge success and we have no doubt this will follow suit. Vanilla comes with no less than four top quality remixes that will appeal to many.
The Original Mix kicks us off as an already established groove finds its way into our brains. Big phat kicks will have those dancing feet moving in no time and the tight percussion patterns provide for steady rhythms throughout. Layers begin to form up with the addition of some cool sub basses that sit on top of a stomping, pulsing bassline. The break reveals a stunning atmospheric sequence filled with ethereal pads and break beats that give off a darker progressive vibe. Hints of melodies filter through as the track climaxes back into the main sound to continue this wonderful journey to its conclusion, epic stuff.
The Stripped Down Original Mix is a much more clubby affair with the focus bearing down on the drum patterns and percussion arrangements. We get some very cool FX that add contrasting textures to the bubbly bassline that sits perfectly underneath the sound. An acid type arp teases and you find yourself wanting it to burst out and take control. The break unleashes dark pads that hold intense vibes, break beats ensue and we soon get locked back into this hypnotic groove. Definitely a contender for many playlists, not to be missed.
Gai Barone is up next with his superb remix. Gai is a firm favourite here at Bonzai and we are always delighted to hear his works. Currently working with other artists as well as his own material we are sure to be seeing a lot more from this guy in the future. Pounding kicks and surreal atmospheres bring the remix to life. A deep droning bass note rises up and is joined by haunting voices as we settle into a deep progressive groove. Beautifully arranged note changes and the addition of some very cool classic styled arps bring in a euphoric feeling to the sound. The break conjures up a mystical scene as those calming voices are joined by swirling melodic pads and strings to the backdrop of that ever pulsing bass. A subtle climax gets us back into full swing on this epic ride, a must have track in your collection.
Argentinean producer Hector Sawiak returns to remix duties after his stint on Chantola's Don't You Know back in the summer of 2013. Here he takes the track on a sublime journey into prog with a smooth pulsating offset bass against a steadily flowing rhythmic drum arrangement. Cool FX litter the sound beautifully as the bass begins to become a real driving force. Hypnotic melodies form up out of the synths as the break offers up a medley of bass structures that lead us back into the main groove for the duration of this exquisite journey.
LoQuai turns up on remix duty with another of his stomping cuts. We haven't seen LoQuai at Bonzai since his last escapade Flying Fortress alongside studio partner Shimmer. He has been busy though with top class releases across various labels, still one to watch for the future. The remix sets off into a world full of flowing progressive grooves that captivate beautifully. Cascading pads score cool melodies into your mind and keep you hooked into the sound. Wonderfully arranged drums will keep the feet dancing along with that deep and lush bass. A track that is not to be missed for sure.
Dimitri Kechagias review: The beloved artist Airwave is back in action with many bookings all over the world and many releases lined up for our enjoyment. His brand new anthem is called Vanilla and is co-produced with Phi Phi. The original mix is a solid melodic progressive trancer with tribal kicks, punchy deep basslines and dark industrial synths. On the breakdown they include mouthwatering breaks section that travel your mind, body and soul to faraway magical places. Gai Barone is the big star of now with releases on the finest labels so far. His remix is deep, groovy, blissful, dreamy and very exciting. With cinematic soundscapes and dark atmosphere Gai Barone transforms the original into his own unique stand out style that is simply delicious. Hypnotic, spacey, imaginative with creative flair his remix is like looking inside your soul and sometimes you feel really disappointed about it cause you hide too much stuff. Hector Sawiak continues on the same deep house meets trance direction with minimal kick and haunting bassline. Travelling, eye opening and melodic is one of those tracks that never fail to bring certain mood on any dj set. LoQuai remix is exceptional as it goes even deeper by adding electronic synthy melodies upon the warm sparkling groove and bubbly bassline that sounds like the calming sea waters at night! Fantastic package that you can not afford to miss. This is the future of progressive house & trance! #PureGold Love iT
