DJ Hashish delivers another brand new EP on the Songbird imprint, presenting the titles “Awakening” and “Oceanic”.
DJ Hashish is definitely on a roll with his productions and seems to eat, sleep and live in his studio at the moment. This new EP is proof of it. The first track to open the EP is “Awakening”, one of those proverbial cuts that you’d always find on the second disc of the famous In Search of Sunrise releases: still incredibly smooth, crisp and with a beautiful arrangement, but definitely with a rougher edge.
“Awakening”, if you will, has a certain oriental undertone, mainly because of the synths used, but it’s especially the percussive bassline programming in combination with the hard kick drums that give the single it’s powerful, tell tale sound. In the break it pays of to listen to all synth and string layers, truly a superb production.
“Oceanic” closes the EP and is an uplifting, incredibly positive trance track. The allover sound of the entire arrangement is open, inviting and absolutely danceable. The ones in the know will hear some references to classic Italo synth programming, which only adds more to the already Mediterranean style that will drive everyone to the dance floor. DJ Hashish once again uses the break to show off his skills with melodies and a downright touching way of adding extra sounds; most definitely a superb track for today’s live trance DJ sets!

Songbird presents another exceptional EP from his studio containing tracks that will bring colour to our black and white life in the grey rainy autumn. Awakening is a travelling dream and dance track with chorous like voices samples, piano melodys, warm synths, tight and driving basslines that lead on the mesmerizing breakdown that guitar riff is unleashed to offer that safe and secure feeling of a better world. Oceanic has an electro prog trance style that is playful and really groovy with subconscious little melodies that take us on the breakdown that is rich with little melodies and effects that give you the impression that you dive in the middle of the ocean. Its great how many mental images can come up with just some sounds. Two great tracks that make our life hopeful and optimistic. Great tracks for home listening or early prog trance set club use.
