First instalment of EDM History will connect the past with the present as the first feature is dedicated to Paul Oakenfold's most influential dj mix ever. His exceptional and nowadays legendary Goa Essential Mix for the biggest and most influential radio station in the world BBC Radio 1. It appeared back in 1994. This was my second year in UK and I remember listening this mix on BBC Radio 1 in my little room at the Halls of Residence of UEL in Barking, London and I must confess that I was gobsmacked. Thousands of people were definitely inspired and felt that something new is born and is coming up. Paul Oakenfold had as a mission to introduce to a wider audience the most important underground sound at that moment that was trance of course. It took actually 6 years for this style to break into the UK Top 40 charts and many trance tracks to become pop anthems as well that I don't consider it as negative thing. It's great that this enlightening experience that is Paul Oakenfold's Goa Mix is available since last year at the BBC Radio 1 web site with additional commentary from Paul Oakenfold who explains the track selection, what he tried to achieve with his mix and how did he put it together. Two hours of your life that worth dedicating to listen, learn , enjoy and maybe cry a bit.

Paul Oakenfold is on the Mission once again as he releases his Trance Mission album and he does something really brave. Rather than remixing trance classics he decides to reintroduce them to the younger audience by recreating them with his own sound that is multifaceted. From Big Room Trance to Psy Goa trance to chill out and breaks style versions this is definitely the moment that particularly USA will learn trance even more. Paul Oakenfold as with his Goa mix was in the mission to bring trance to a wider audience with his Trance Mission album attempts to reintroduce trance to new audiences who may know only the USA EDM style.
