REVIEW: Gai Barone - Cartaria incl Relaunch & Audio Noir mixes on Bonzai Progressive

When it comes to progressive one name will always come to mind, Gai Barone. A veteran within the scene Gai has been responsible for some gems in the past and here he continues that trend with the fantastic 'Cartaria'. Backed up with three superb remixes you are in for a real treat on this one. First up we have the Original which takes a dive into the deeper side of prog with a subtle, percussive intro and a haunting pad. The beats filter through beautifully and bring a nice warm edge to the sound as the percussions begin to tighten up into a solid flowing rhythmic sequence. A mesmerizing arp plays throughout the track and really takes your mind away as the track evolves. Cool melodies ebb and flow as they tease their way making you want more, while on the break the synths intensify and climax into a full blown progressive workout, top notch!

Maik Relaunch turns up the heat with the first of two remixes from this ever popular artist. His Early Morning Remix is aptly titled as it is a track you would expect to hear at the end of sweat inducing, pumping progressive party. Big chunky kicks hold the track together as crispy hats are contrasted with a bubbly bass that provides a solid platform for what is to come. Big sweeping synths dominate the sound and on the first break you will have your mind blown by the clarity and sheer tangibility of the synths. The track kicks back into a solid progressive groove before those synths come around again, an absolute monster and a definite must for those playlists!

Relaunch's second remix, the Late Night Remix, is much tougher offering as you would expect. A perfect track for the peak time festivities as edgy beats are met with a fantastic synth hook. Nice and chunky kicks alongside tight percussions release flowing rhythms. The bass meanders through the sound beautifully as it pulsates through the track. Those big and powerful synths make a return on the break and give this track big floor appeal, not to be missed. A man who needs no introduction, he has been responsible for a vast amount of remixes and original works lately on Bonzai Progressive and we always get excited when his creations are delivered.

Another Audio Noir Trip goes right into the soul of darker progressive vibes. The intro boasts a chunky kick with a cool FXed vocal over the top as a beautifully haunting pad rises up from the depths. All the while a superbly tight percussion arrangement steadily builds up a solid rhythmic base. The first break brings forth a wonderful array of sounds before kicking back in with the most surprising and superb basslines you are likely to hear any time soon. Smooth melodic sequences ease in on the main break as the track builds back up into the main groove. Fantastic cut from Audio Noir yet again!

Dimitri Kechagias review: He is considered to be one of the big rising names in the progressive trance scene and he will play this summer in Ibiza as well. Gai Barone starts slowly to get the recognition he deserves for his very personal unique sound that seems to be favourite for many well known djs. With releases on top labels he returns on Bonzai Progressive in Belgium with his magnificent track Cartaria. As you can easily guess we are about to go for a nice journey at the deepest depths of human mind and soul. It's very dark, moody, haunting production that has warmth and  fantastic pulsating basslines and bubbly groove while on top he adds some very subtle synths that stay at the background. His breakdown remains really distanced with huge rave style synthy lead that comes at the surface and disappears when the kick hits back. It's one of those tracks that deep progressive trance fans will appreciate dearly with outstanding sound design. Relaunch is the finest choice to remix this track. Mike delivers the Morning and Late Night remix. The Morning remix has the well known tribal bouncy grooves and energetic driving basslines while on top the dark sinister melodic synths appear to create the mysterious and travelling atmosphere. The Late Night mix as you can easily guess is a slower affair with tribal techy grooves, deep basslines, acid influences, psy trance infusions and great synthy riff in the breakdown that sounds dark and extremely hot like a very warm summer night in Ibiza. Audio Noir is one of those artists that slowly expands his reputation and this remix will be great addition in his CV. His version moves in and out of progressive trance & house with many experimental tendencies. The groove is deeper than the original and the basslines is darker and haunting as well. The first breakdown adopts breaks like slower beat while on the second breakdown on the similar sequence goes for something more straight forward trance before to move on the final chunky groovy part! Fantastic original supported by quality remixes! #PureGold Love It
