Dimitri Kechagias review: WePlay is an absolute favourite record label for me and for many other djs worldwide as each and every single release of this top smashing label becomes a hit and dominates the relevant charts. It was such a great surprise to see Dj Tonka coming back at the forefront of the scene with his massive EP Aliens & Earthlings that combined funky tech house with trancy breakdowns. His remixes for many artists lately follow the same very unique and personal style. His latest release on WePlay has a trance influenced name and its called Atlantis. It starts quite minimal and chunky but slowly he builds the various soundlayers in a such funky way that you simply want to dance along with it. He adds upon his bouncy beats the trancy riffs that lead us on the breakdown that a male vocal sample is revealed and the big synths that will create real damage and raise many hands in the air. His main part is uplifting and funky at the same time recalling some Force Inc classics. Suddenly a rewind effect works as bridge to take us on the second part of this so wonderful track that you can not resist its massive floor appeal. Second breakdown and now the track is uplifting but with the addition of classic organ sounds adding an old school flavor as well. Awesome tune and highly recommended!Lets hope dj Tonka to release an album on WePlay soon. Love it!
