REVIEW: Rebels Without A Cause & York - Red Violin on Planet Love records

1.Red Violin (Rebels Club Mix)
2.Red Violin (York's Club Mix)
3.Red Violin (Mario Hammer's Lonely Robot Remix)
4.Red Violin (York's Radio Mix)

German producer York teams up with the Rebels Without A Cause (Andrew Bennet and Mario Hammer) trio to bring an incredibly warm and deep progressive trance track. ‘Red Violin’ hits the right note, that’s for sure.

It’s been mere weeks since the legendary Planet Love Records joined forces with Armada Music, but the impact is clear. The first single of Torsten Stenzel, residing under his York moniker, was the hot and housy ‘Wanna Be Known’ ft. Brandon Jones.

The follow-up to that one, is the dreamy ‘Red Violin’ featuring Rebels Without A Cause.

Hitting in with a thick, deep bass and flowing to a soundscape of mind-scintillating melody and eerie vocals, ‘Red Violin’ lights any room, hall or club it meets.

You can enjoy the heavyweight original, but there’s also the slightly more melodic York Club Mix or playful, indulging Mario Hammer’s Lonely Robot Mix!

Dimitri Kechagias review: The awesome Torsten Stenzel who is a real legend and one of the most influential trance producers returns with a wonderful new tune co-produced with Rebels Without A Cause. The exciting new release entitled Red Violin comes in 3 different shapes and sizes to choose from. First of all the original mix that can be characterised as an old school deep prog trancer with techno influences that uses deep dark basslines with tribalish beats and on the background the  haunting violin melody. Slowly a warm feel good melodic riff comes up in the surface to bring shivers all over our bodies. The track continues on the same deep and mysterious path with additional acid overtones in order to bring that hypnotic state of trance. Second great mix on the package is the lovely York Club Mix. Its Balearic and charismatic version particularly with the use of that great synthy riff that recalls great synthesiser classics. The breakdown of course includes the trademark guitar riff by York and amazing spoken female vocal sample that tell us about staying always Rebels Without A Cause. Big room synths appear as well to create the needed excitment. The track continues on the main part equally deep and melodic but with additional clever melodic layers that simply take you on a journey without even noticing it. Lastly Mario Hammer's Lonely Robot Remix is a very creative techy rendition that is absolutely mindblowing. It brings to my mind the EYEQ/Harthouse trance classics of the early and most influential years of the genre. It is certainly a more dubby moody remix that proves that less sometimes can do more when there is a strong idea for a melodic riff as foundation. I would love to see Torsten combine his forces with Armin and I'm sure the result will be mindblowing. Red Violin, Its a real beauty. Love IT!
