ADE 2017: 10 fantastic recommendations for ADE

From old churches to the big room and back to meditation rooms, here is what ADE has to offer summarized in ten events that show the diversity of the event.

With exactly one week left, here are some remarkable highlights from the day and night program. 

| Thursday October 19, 8 pm - 10 pm, ADE Festival Hangout.

Sound wizard Binkbeats releases his debut EP and celebrates with friends and ADE Sound Lab visitors. On stage, Binkbeats performs his meticulously detailed compositions in a dazzling live setup, using over fifty instruments and allocating all four limbs like a spider in its web.

| Thursday October 19, 6.30 pm - 11 pm, Melkweg & Sugarfactory

ADE Live offers adventurous music lovers the opportunity to discover hidden gems and the artists get their moment in the spotlight in front of an audience of fans and professionals including bookers and programmers. On Day 2 the Melkweg and Sugarfacory present Hercules & Love Affair, Red Axes 4 and Matias Aguayo & the Desdemonas amongst others. 

| Saturday October 21, 9 pm - 6 am, Amsterdam ArenA. 

AMF celebrates it's fifth year at ADE and for the occasion they have introduced the concept of 'Two is One'. Every year, they will invite two artists that have never performed together. On ADE's Saturday in the Amsterdam ArenA, Armin van Buuren and Hardwell will perform together for the first time ever. 

| Thursday October 19, 4 pm - 4.45 pm, ADE Festival Hangout.

Tiga and the Soulwax crew are well known to ADE regulars, but you might not know that they are also the best of friends. During a special MusicTalk the trio will be discussing a range of personal and musical topics including how they are affected by revivals of genres such as New Beat and Electroclash of which they were an integral part.

| Wednesday October 18, 6.30 pm - 9 pm, Melkweg Rabo zaal. 

One ADE´s opening night Jameszoo and the Metropole Orkest will collaborate for this special project of experimental electronic and jazz music at Melkweg's Rabozaal. 

| Saturday October 21, 7.30 pm - 10 pm, Waalse Kerk. 

Be sure to check out this special performance by Carl Craig. In an old church right in the middle of the Red Light District Carl Craig presents Versus; the adaptation of his techno masterpieces into powerful symphonic versions. Six musicians, including pianist arranger Francesco Tristano and Craig himself wil form a synthesizer orchestra.

| Thursday October 19, 5 pm - 6.30 pm, Spui25. 

Scientific research has proven dancing and listening to music to have positive effects on the brain. How and why these effects occur are questions to be explored at SPUI25 together with young researchers during this session at Spui25.

| Sunday October 22, 8 pm - 11 pm, Melkweg Rabozaal.

On ADE's Sunday Philip Glass returns to ADE with his Days and Nights festival. Glass will perform together with Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies three piano works. Furthermore, the Amstel Saxophone Quartet & DJ/producer Kypski present 'Glass On The Roof' to celebrate the eightieth birthday of the composer.

What is sound? What is vibration? What is energy? What is Quantum Sound? How does Sound influence us and how do we influence Sound from a scientific point of view? Expect a dynamic talk and Q&A with Elizabeth Plokker (co-founder of The Conscious Club) & Krishna Hassomal and a live sound experience with Frank Klank. 

| October 18-22, opening ceremony on Wednesday from 6 pm - 1 am, Thu-Sun 2 pm - 11.30 pm, Amsterdam Roest.

The exhibition "The Art of Painting" explores the engagement of contemporary urban artists to techniques of classical painting. Many of these artists have a background in classical painting and spend hours creating truly well-executed craftsmanship with approaches used by the old masters. 40 international top artists will transform the monumental warehouse "Van Gendthallen" at Amsterdam Roest into an 800 m2 exhibition space.
