REVIEW: Zen Freeman, LackofRAM featuring Chris Carter - Shine on Black Hole

1. Original
2. Remy Le Duc Remix
3. Vanity Machine Remix
4. Sex By Surprise Remix

Zen Freeman teams up with LackofRAM for the brand new single “Shine” on the Black Hole imprint. The vocals are performed by Chris Carter.

Zen Freeman is a British Producer, Remixer and Performance DJ. Zen moved to Los Angeles in 2001 where he works as a music supervisor for Prada, Soho House, Schrager Hotels and the Weinstein Company. Frequently touring clubs and events by night and working in the studio producing, scoring and sourcing music by day, Zen’s recent remixing & production collaborations include work with Paul Oakenfold, Joyriders, Randy Jackson, Brunette, Jump Jump Dance Dance, Remy Le Duc & EC Twins. LackofRAM started as a remixing side project by songwriter/producer/music technology twit Taylor Martyr. LackofRAM quickly took on a life of its own after partnering up with producer/engineer/semi-pro ice hockey evangelist Nathan Jenkins at ActionGoNow Studios in Hollywood CA.

“Shine” easily opens up the dance floors for the crowd with an enticing combination of trance and a hint of house on the club tip. Supported by the bright and clear vocals of Chris Carter and a superb package of killer remixes by, amongst others, Remy Le Duck, it’s only a matter of time before the big names will let this gem “Shine” in the clubs!

Dimitri Kechagias review: Black Hole is top label of class and quality  with exceptional releases that have something unique and noteworthy in them. The same applies  for the new single that is the fruit of collaboration between Zen Freeman &  LackofRAM featuring the great singer Chris Carter. The track is called Shine and of course its all about big room bouncy beats, great melodic themes and strong uplifting vocals with rocky edge performed so beautifully by Chris Carter.  The package includes 4 strong versions to choose from and play without mercy in the coming weekends. First of all is the original mix that is a mixture of progressive and electro along with some trance touches as well. The vocal is absolutely marvellous as it adds a rocky but summery feel as well. Remy Le Duc return with a lovely remix that stands on the verge between prog house and trance to satisfy both camps without difficulty. If you want a version that is rougher and combines dubstep with electro house as well better drop Vanity Machine Remix. Its full of smashing twisted sounds, aggressive rough edges, glitzy parts and even some funk as well. Last but not least Sex By Surprise deliver a driving melodic USA prog house version that could be a warmer for trance sets as well. Great package to let the best feelings from inside Shine outside. Love IT!
