REVIEW: Matt Meler - Up On You out on The Bearded Man / Armada Music

Some people mistakenly believe that The Bearded Man has never been injured, due to his near immediate reaction time and perfect situational awareness. He was, however, injured exactly one time in his life.

While sunning in Queensland with a close personal friend on the back of his jet ski, he witnessed the unthinkable: He looked up and noticed the largest human waterski pyramid he’d ever seen, with none other than Pope John Paul II on top.

Flabbergasted, he reached for his sunglasses -- his pinky nail caught a hair of beard, separating it from his weathered face. So doing, a single drop of blood fell into the water, forming what is now known as the Great Barrier Reef.

Matt Meler watched the whole thing happen, and he was inspired to write ‘Up On You’ because of it.

Dimitri Kechagias review: When you start thinking out of the genre boxes and the straight jackets of styles you will realise the diversity of music that exists out there. This diversity attempts successfully The Bearded Man to represent in its very impressive release schedule so far. The latest one landing on the top label is Matt Meler with the fantastic Up On You. If you adore deep house and electronica music you will appreciate the eclectic house touches on Up On You. Fat deep basslines, bouncy chunky groove, chopped vocal samples. early rave style organ riffs and revival 90's house piano chords that create stunning listening experience. Its one of those records that nobody can resist to start clapping their hands, moving their feet and feeling the warmth and tenderness of the awesome deep and sexy late night sounds. It sounds like coming from the 90's and someone has remastered it from an old tape. Nostalgic, romantic and feel good to the maximum and boredom to the minimum. #PureGold Love it
