REVIEW: Kriss-One - Mandala EP out on Selekted

1-Limaya
2-Okeana
3-Mandala

In April 2011, young Kriss-One undertook a long voyage to the dark jungles of Africa with nothing but a toothbrush, a bottle of water and a recording device. While wandering the desolate African landscape, Kriss-One lost his way and got stuck deep in the jungle surrounded by scary animals and hostile tribes.

After an intense search by various rescue teams, Kriss-One was found four months later in the Mandala tribe camp, firmly holding his recording device to his chest. On his way back to The Netherlands, the only thing Kriss-One could say was: “got to get to the studio!”. A week later, he finished this rocking three track EP.

Conclusion: even when in captivity, better record some wicked vocals!

Dimitri Kechagias review: Selekted Music is one of the most talk about house labels  at the moment and  carries on its global domination with an outstanding release by Kriss-One. If you search  like me tribal house tracks with ethnic vocals you will adore the brand new ep by Kriss-One. 3 fantastic tracks that can be described as ethnic tribal house meets dirty dutch and progressive house with wide variety of influences and creative experimentation with sounds. The way that the African vocal samples used within the tracks is really exceptional and they invite the listener  to follow them and dance with them in the middle of the clubfloor that perhaps will look like the dark jungles that Kriss-One was wondering around. The breakdown on all 3 tracks is really atmospheric and  the ambient sounds and effects used to recreate that jungle like atmosphere really stands out. Simply irresistable and highly infectious EP that will put in a state of hypnotic dance for sure.
