REVIEW: Jonathan Carvajal - Switched Off out on Subculture/Armada Music

1.Switched Off(JOC edit)
2.Switched Off (Thomas Bronzwaer Remix)

A highly demanded DJ, producer and label-owner such as John O’Callaghan swims in the amount of promo’s and demo’s he gets sent. Sometimes, hours and hours of listening pass by before that one special tune hits the speakers. They’re a rare gift nowadays, but every once in a while, John is lucky to find that special spark of musical magic. This time, he found it in ‘Switched Off’, by upcoming talent Jonathan Carvajal.

John created a special JOC edit to this bulky beat-monster. An edit that roughens the edges, kicks in just that little bit extra and takes the break to majestic highs. ‘Switched Off’ has the best of both worlds: hard-hitting beats and soulful melody.

Dimitri Kechagias review: Subculture is a guarantee force of quality uplifting trance and this time a brand new talent enters its headquarters for a big fat and stomping release. Jonathan Carvajal is his name and better noted down, cause this young man will return for more in the near future if we judge him right from this superb track that JOC did a special edit for us. It is powerful, energetic and full on ready to get you jumping reaching the skies and searching for a better world. Upon the top driving beats great swirling spacey effects and  acid  riffs lead us on that hands in the air breakdown. Choir like heavenly vocals appear slowly from the deep along with " that something reminds me but dont remember exactly what" type of riff. When the beat comes back the track gets a twisted tech trance style with addictive rhythm to keep those body engines working in the right condition.  The excellent Dutch man Thomas Bronzwaer, who   is one of the most able producers in the trance scene transforms the original into a big uplifting trancer in his own unique and very special style with large gorgeous feel good melody, driving exquisite beats and an atmosphere  that recalls trance classics from the glorious past of trance coming from Berlin. If you like the melodic side of the trance sound this remix will satisfy you completely. Subculture at its best and look out for the brand new Subculture mixed compilation coming soon.
