BEST OF 2019 Interview with Solanca



Danish producer and DJ Solanca takes You on a joruney into the wild, with his nature inspired melodic house. Whether it's blissful tunes or club oriented vibes, he ensures to fill each track with organic elements - From field recordings of the forest, to natural percussions.



Dimitris: Your biggest music career achievements in 2019:
Solanca: My biggest achievement was to have my first solo EP 'Nightshade' released on 'This Never Happened'. I really wanted to make a release that would introduce my sound to the world, and I'm really happy with the way it turned out. 

Dimitris: Please rate your online presence/visibility in 2019 from 0-10?Please elaborate with short comment.
Solanca: 8. My tracks has definitely been noticed in the scene, and I've gotten to know a lot of new people. I really hope to continue with that for 2020. 



1) Best track(s) and short comment for each track from other fellow artists in 2019
Solanca: Khåen - Mordecai & Avoure - Aura. Both tracks are incredible and have so memorable melodies. It's always inspiring to hear tracks from fellow TNH artists. 





2) Best of 2019 personal productions with short comment about them:
Solanca: Nightshade, Black Forest and Monarch. 'Nightshade' was meant as the 'grand' introduction track to my solo EP and my sound has been shaped a lot around that style. 'Black Forest' is special to me, as it's way out of my comfort zone and I really made an effort to do things differently. Same goes with my latest release 'Monarch', which is my first collaboration with Artüria. I believe the best from both of us lies within that track. 







3) Best Artist in 2019(DJ & producer) with short comment:
Solanca: Lane 8. His stuff is always inspiring and his music has a special place in my heart. 



4) Best Remix(es) from other fellow artists in 2019 with short comment :
Solanca: Monkey Safari - Smalltown (Hernan Cattaneo & Audiojnkies Remix) and WhoMadeWho - Dynasty (Denis Horvat Remix). I love the deep vibes and simplicity in these remixes!





5) YOUR Best Remix which you have produced in 2019 with short comment?
Solanca: My remix of Katl June - Delta. The original is a very blissful tune, and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to do the remix.



6) Best Remixer(s) for 2019 with short comment:
Solanca: Oliver Koletzki. His 'Remix Tales'. His 'Remix Tales' album is full with interesting works. I love Koletzkis use of organic and tribal sounds.  



7) Best New Talent in 2019 (DJ or producer) with short comment :
Solanca: That will be my good friend Artüria. His tracks are always massive, and I hope we can do more collaborations in the future. 



8) Best electronic dance music album in 2019 with short comment:
Solanca: Ben Böhmer's debut album 'Breathing'. He's an incredible producer and every track has a unique story. Really well-made album!



9) Best electronic dance music compilation in 2019 with short comment? :
Solanca: Anjunadeep 10. I've found a lot of incredible tracks in that compliations that I still listen to once in a while. Serena's Garden by Nox Vahn & Marsh is my favorite from the compilation.



10) Best artwork about single / album/compilation or promotional campaign in 2019 with short comment:
Solanca: Lane 8's latest releases on 'This Never Happened'. The artwork is always amazing, and there's a personal story attached to every release. 



11) Best social media response you may have received about your music or your DJ performance in 2019:
Solanca: A couple of months ago, I was tagged in a video on Instagram, where the DJ played my track 'Tall Crowns', and the crowd chanted along with the drop. It was amazing to see people's response and know that they enjoyed it!



12) Your Best personal DJ Gig & DJ performance in 2019 with short comment:
Solanca: My best performance was back in Juli, when I played at an outdoor event in Aalborg. It was a very spontanious booking I got the day before the event. But I went there and had a good time, even though it was a windy day.

13) Best review that you have read in 2019 about your tracks or for other artists tracks(please provide the link if this review is online):
Solanca: The Flux BPM review of my Delta remix! I'm so glad it got 10/10

14) Best technical tips that you learnt in 2019 in relation to your DJing or music productions:
Solanca: The best tip I gained was to record audio with effects on it. I'm used to bouncing my tracks to audio, but the included effects makes You more commited to the track.

15) Best piece of personal or music bussiness advice you got in relation to your career in 2019 and has helped you to progress even further:
Solanca: The best advice I got was, that I don't have to put too much preassure on myself. Music making have to be fun, otherwise it won't work. I try to remember that, whenever I can.

16) Best ever electronic dance music track(s) of all times with short comment?
Solanca: Above and Beyond - Blue Sky Action. It's the perfect summer tune and I only have positive memories with - It even made me discover Alex Vargas as well!



17) Best hobby or creative activity except music production in 2019:
Solanca: Running. I love to push my body and it helps me consider the things going on in my life, or give me inspiration for new music.

Dimitris: Do you have any concrete plans for 2020 regarding future releases, tracks, albums, collaborations, DJ gigs? Please provide us the juicy details.

Solanca: I already have new music ready for the first months of 2020! But I also hope to return to 'This Never Happened' next year and I hope to elevate my music to be more meaningful and memorable. I've only just begun, and I'm not ready to stop just yet!

Dimitris: Your message & wishes for 2020.
Solanca: 2019 was a great year for electronic music, I hope 2020 will be just like so, and I hope new creative ways for music production to flourish.
