ADE 2019: Weval to take over Het Concertgebouw with live show during ADE

Following up on recent announcements about ADE LIVE and ADE Sound Lab we continue with more news focused on the live aspect of electronic music, as Dutch musicians Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers, better known as Weval will take over the iconic main hall of Het Concertgebouw in the evening of Wednesday October 16th. Tickets will be available from March 8 onwards.

Weval is known for their layered, warm synthesizer melodies and hypnotic rhythms and provides for an intense, musical trip. The Dutch duo's sound can be described as music that can lift you up, and make you feel hopeful without being necessarily straight out 'happy'. In this way, Weval appeals to a broad range of dance enthusiast but also appeals to fans of Radiohead, Boards of Canada and Massive Attack.

The Weight
Weval's new album The Weight is released today on German label Kompakt. With the help of sound engineer David Wrench (Frank Ocean, The xx, FKA Twigs, Caribou) Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers recorded all of their own samples, voice and almost every instrument out of the box.
Weval wanted to relive “the emotions they felt back in the first days of making music together: the naïve feeling of absolute, creative freedom”. Also, the album was the fruit of a whole new working process for them: more playful and unpredictable. “We were switching from guitars lying around to piano, onto our own synths and the most cheap quirky toys synths you can imagine."
Het Concertgebouw
Het Concertgebouw is one of the places where classic meets contemporary during ADE. The building dates back to 1888 and is considered one of the best concert halls in the world, with acoustics that cannot be compared to any other ADE locations. In recent years the venue has played host to a wide range of artists during ADE, including Henrik Schwarz, Kiasmos, Nicolas Jaar, Sasha and many more.

Access
Tickets (from € 27,-) will be available from Friday 8 March at 10 AM through www.concertgebouw.nl. The concert is also accessible for ADE Pass holders (limited capacity), available here.
